✨ HISTORIC FIRST - DOWNTOWN STOCKBRIDGE FOOD DEPOT RAZE & REBUILD!
“Prioritizing Downtown Redevelopment strengthens the economic core of the city.”
The Stockbridge DDA, in partnership with the Taylor family & Food Depot, will raze and rebuild the plaza at the longtime Food Depot site in the heart of downtown. In addition, the city purchased the old carwash next to the Food Depot plaza. The funding will be supplied by the funds allocated by the City Council in the 2025 budget adjustments and reconciliation recommended by the new City Treasurer, Frank Milazi. Some $21 million in available funding was identified by the City Treasurer with nearly $18 million reserved for the fund balance, or rainey day fund and nearly $3 million reserved for property acquisitions.

About Mr. Taylor & Food Depot:
In 1975, two friends - Gerald Taylor and Raymond Johnson - mortgaged their homes to buy a struggling grocery store in Stockbridge called Kenney’s Market. They renamed it Quality Foods and worked it themselves, customer by customer.
In 1988, the Food Depot name and cost-plus 10% model was born in Conyers. Today, Food Depot operates 25-42 stores across Georgia with ∼1,500 employees, still owned by All American Quality Foods, Inc. What started here in Stockbridge became a Georgia institution.
Now 50 years later, we're coming full circle to rebuild where it all started. A premiere developer will be sought to construct the project!

Finally, the Downtown Alley project is coming as outdoors gathering space, think a smaller scale Trlith Fayetteville and Avalon Alpharetta open space with benches, a fountain, outside dining areas, and possibly a Jumbotron like TV to watch events like the Super Bowl.
