Henry County ‘s $55 million Aquatic Center & Water Park Ribbon Cutting! 🔥❤️👏🏾

The much anticipated, best in class Henry County Aquatic Center is a transformative project in the development history of Henry County. The facility features competition level pools and an outdoor water park for residents and tourists to enjoy. I have wholeheartedly supported this project having advocated for the project since the beginning of this page in 2014! In 2014 a private group, the Kensley Grace Foundation, attempted to privately fund the aquatic center but was unable to secure the millions in funding for the project after years of efforts. I even spoke before the Commissioners in support of the project in 2015. We as elected officials then sought to get the public class A project on Splost V with the Commissioners putting it on the ballot for voters with the support of many community partners including Because We Care Henry, County swim teams, and Kensley Grace Foundation.

The Splost V Referendum passed in part because of projects like the aquatic center. I certainly pushed this project as one of the best reasons to vote YES for Splost especially with our Henry County swim teams having to leave the community to train and compete. Meaning they never have the support of a home crowd during competitions. District V Commissioner Kevin J. Lewis stressed the importance of the Board keeping promises.

“Bottom line, this was a SPLOST project voted on by the citizens of Henry County. We are going to be a board that completes projects, we are going to be a board that executes what our citizens want. It’s about doing what we said we would do,” said Lewis.Chair Carlotta Harrell said that the investment in the Aquatic Center will be great for the County! If all goes well we could be looking at a late summer to early fall opening in 2026.

Our 2026 Summer Food program for kids needs donations to fill the increasing need during Summer Break for our students in our community with the economy slowing. Hunger is an ever present challenge in the county with so few resources to assist . Please consider a donation to Community Development For Real People (CD4RP) Community Assistance Center's Summer Food Program to feed and support those in need. As the school year ends in May our focus will turn to summer meals for underprivileged kids whose only meal may just be a school lunch otherwise they may go hungry.
