We use the hard style of Okinawan Japanese straight line fighting and the Soft style of Chinese Kempo and that which is angular or circular movements. Goju Ryu therefore has the best of both fighting traditions of Okinawan and Chinese. We combine jamming, isolation, and parry combinations into a single fighting form. We also utilize the talents of other arts of self defense for completeness to adapt to any attack on the streets. Commitment is to develop excellence in self-confidence, respect and discipline in all students so they develop into the best they can be and teach the traditional arts the way they were taught in Okinawa and Japan.

Every year after our Neighborhood Night Out Block Party, the event committee gathers for one of our favorite traditions: a potluck with the neighbors, business owners, sponsors, vendors and community members who helped make it all happen. Everyone brings a dish, we share a meal and get to enjoy some time together after all the work that goes into bringing our neighborhood to life ❤️ A special thank you to Catalyst for hosting us, as always. It takes a Village to make these events happen, and we’re already getting ready for our next one: YSV Trick-or-Treat 🎃 Stay on the lookout for event and activity announcements coming soon. 7 years strong, and now officially a nonprofit, we’re incredibly grateful for everyone who continues to show up, support the Village and help bring vibrancy and activity to the block for all to enjoy.

Tibon's Goju Ryu Karate would like to thank all those who voted our karate school for being voted the “Best Of San Joaquin, Best of the Best for Martial Arts schools in San Joaquin Magazine the last 16 years in a row.

Tibon’s Goju Ryu Karate has been serving the San Joaquin County community for the pat 42 years and continues to develop some of the best of our community to represent United States in international representation.

Just this year we had 3 of our local athletes selected to the AAU National Team to the 14th WUKF World Championships in Romania, last year one selected to WUKF World Championships in Sweden.
Then 3 of our athletes from our satellite program United Bay Area Karate Club placed one female athlete on the USA National Karate National Senior team, member of the US Olympic Committee and 2 other athletes on the USA Junior National Team to compete in Costa Rica for the Jr. Pan American Karate Championships.

Tibon’s Goju Ryu continues to develop excellence in our students to the highest level of technical, physical, and social skills that can impact their entire lives.
Our self defense development in this 1,500 year old martial art continues into the next generation with our students and teachers. We look forward in continuing to serve our community with proven excellence.
