I’m seeking a word stronger than “badass” to describe SGT Dustin Willbanks. He’s definitely a dude I would want to have my back in a fight!
“An OK Department of Corrections employee has been awarded the 2021 ODOC Medal of Valor award for his courage and strength of character after being violently attacked in October of 2021.
Sgt. Dustin Willbanks was working inside the Oklahoma State Penitentiary when he was attacked by a prisoner.
Sgt. Willbanks and his partner were escorting a maximum-security prisoner to the shower, who despite being handcuffed, was able to grip a sharp pencil and shove it into Sgt. Willbanks’ neck.
It missed his esophagus by an 1/8 of an inch!
😮With the pencil sticking out of his neck, Sgt. Willbanks and his partner, Sgt. Mandi Morgan, contained the attacker before anybody else got hurt.😮
After the prisoner was secured, Sgt. Willbanks walked to the infirmary and was later taken to a local hospital, where he was back on the job within a week.
This badass hero deserves every award for courage, strength, class, leadership, and for setting the example. Oklahoma Department of Corrections you guys have a good one!
