It’s Sean Fitzgerald again.
Jerry asked for me to share the following information with all Sandlot Players and family members, past and present.
“To all Sandlot players and families,I just learned of the death of John Lendzian and I wanted to share that info with you.
John was a person I truly looked up to, respected, and honored. Over the years he has become a part of the fiber of our Sandlot Baseball Team.
It was such a GREAT HONOR for us to have him carry that flag out there to the mound for our pregame ceremonies and the playing of our National Anthem, which he so honorably defended in two different wars. He'll be greatly missed and at this year's Independence Day Ceremonies, he will be honored.
John was a real inspiration and motivator for me to always give my maximum effort out there on the ball field. I shall never forget all that John has done for our Sandlot Baseball family.
Tomorrow, my thoughts will be there in Strongsville with John, his family and all of you.
With deepest regards,
Jerry Penyin, #23 - Team Captain."

This is Sean Fitzgerald.
Everyone, it's with great sadness that we share the news of the passing of one of the bravest people our Sandlot family has ever known, World War II Veteran John Frederick Lendzian.
For many years, John has been a staple with the Oste family and his grandson, Max, being a part of our program.
John wasn't just a soldier, but a great man.
A memorial service will be held at Strongsville Methodist Church this Saturday, May 2, at 11 a.m.

Our program added its fifth and newest member to our Hall of Fame Sandloters yesterday with a retired number: Steve Schoenwald, No. 10.
Steve threw out the first pitch to his wife. He then went on to pitch eight strong innings yesterday to his best friend of 25 years, Eddy Jansen, behind the plate.
Below, we have one of our Sandlot military veterans, Ricky Dohar, presenting the flag, along with a few moments of Steve, Jerry and Co.

After reviewing historical trends and schedule data, we estimate the 2026 Opener should be Tues, June 9, 2026.
This'll be a long 306 days.
Sean is already preparing to not be the last out of the season again. This is only the second instance in his 15-year Sandlot career.

Hello everyone,
We're still missing one of our smaller bats, with the bat in question having gone MIA at the Independence Day Picnic. On the nob, Jerry's No. 23 is imprinted.
If you grabbed it by mistake, please make sure to bring it back Thursday morning (no Twilight game Thursday night) or before the season ends next week.
Thanks in advance!

Our Twilight game this Thursday, July 31st, is canceled.
We will still play Thursday morning.
Tomorrow morning, July 29th, remember to bring water! It'll be extremely hot and humid.
