RIP Al Marquette. Anne, Our thoughts and prayers are with you and Al’s family. For more years than I can even imagine, over 20… Al and Anne, would arrive in Stuttgart on Christmas Day, after a 14hr drive and a few stops to visit family along the way. They became part of our family, the girls would be asking “Dad, have you heard from Al and Annie? Are they in town yet”?? Duck hunting in Stuttgart was there annual trip. They brought Cheese Curds and the best Deer Sausage you could imagine as tips for the guides. Their dogs Pepper, Lucy.. came along as well. They hunted, they hung out at Dry Lake most of the day, they visited the guides families at night to deliver their goodie bags, they spend the night at Walker Motor Inn.. $60/night. A school
Teacher and a Pizza Hut employee from Tomah, Wi. Living the dream, coming to Stuttgart each year to duck hunt. If you guided at Dry Lake… then you hunted them at least once during your time. It was almost mandatory, the newest guide got to take Al and Annie. They loved keeping up with Michael Maier, and Bret Watson became their favorite son. If we started a Dry Lake Hunting Service Mt Rushmore, Al would be on it. We just don’t realize what a jewel this area is, and what we have is what others want. Thanks Al for reminding us. RIP Michael Maier Anne Marquardt
