People aren't the only ones displaced during heavy rain and flooding. Such events cause wildlife to seek higher ground, some get trapped by floodwaters or swept into storm drains or rising water causes them to have to abandon their dens or territories. Animal Services has begun conducting wildlife rescues, including a opossum in rising water with nowhere to go, skunks flushed out of a culvert by storm water and even the baby fawn (pictured with Officer Scheibner), who was washed into a storm drain. To report wildlife in trouble within the Sugar Land City limits, call Animal Services at 281-275-2842.

I have learned so much and today was an amazing experience. I cannot wait to come back and apply all that I have learned (and conference is only beginning)! I cannot wait to introduce the new Karna Ball to restore the core classes!

Challenge Monday: No electronics before bed.
I challenge you this week to forego electronic devices before bed - this means no TV, tablets, or smartphones. Read a book instead or find something else that soothes you.
There is a lot of evidence that these devices disrupt our sleep cycle, so go without for a week and see a huge improvement in your sleep quality.

What's Cookin' Wednesday!
Sweet Potato Pancakes with Cantaloupe
Ingredients
1 medium – sweet potato
1/8 cup – Vanilla Protein Powder
1/2 teaspoon – baking soda
1 tablespoon – cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon – nutmeg
3 large – egg white
1 – cooking spray
Toppings:
4 tablespoon – maple syrup, pure
1/2 cup – almonds, sliced
Serve with:
2 cup, cubes – cantaloupe
Directions
Poke a fork into sweet potato 5-6 times. Cook in microwave for 5-6 minutes, turning over halfway through. Allow to cool to room temperature.
Scoop inside of potato into a medium bowl. Mix in protein powder, baking soda, cinnamon and nutmeg until well-blended.
Whisk egg whites; add to potato and mix until smooth. If the batter is too thick, add 1 tablespoon of milk at a time until desired consistency is reached.
Spray a nonstick skillet with cooking spray and heat over medium. Pour 1/4 cup of batter onto skillet for each pancake. Cook for 2-3 minutes or until bubbles form on surface and edges look dry. Flip and cook 1-2 minutes longer or until golden brown. Continue until all batter has been used.
Top pancakes with maple syrup and almonds. Serve with cantaloupe on the side.
