We had a great training session for our 1st Womens Open Mat ๐ฅ๐ & had to go to work before we got a picture, but there were 6 of us! .montes & .kasey. โฃ

As a team of women, we came together to decide what we NEEDed to help our passion of BJJ improve. Our focus for open mat is to be time to DRILL, get LOTS of REPS in. Most people if given the choice to roll or drill, would rather roll because that's the fun part. However, we want to emulate iron sharpening iron, get the reps in, and be willing to criticize & analyze movement until we are technically sound. Together, we decided that we want to build confidence by creating movement patterns of solid technique. Knowing that technique is built in the reps after reps of intentional drilling. ๐คโฃ

๐Thank you ladies for being committed to our community where we don't settle for mediocry or being pushed to the sidelines. Each of us are high-value, high-integrity women that full time students, career based, moms, sisters...but our labels don't stop there. We are proud MARTIAL ARTISTS. We push each other to exceed our potential both ON & OFF the mats. For one sword doesn't sharpen because in comparison, the other blade simply became dull. No, iron sharpens iron.

Luna was the unexpected adoption in 2019. Originally fostered by the sweetest people .n & โฃ
I renamed her Luna after Luna Lovegood in the Harry Potter Series, because if you donโt know Iโm a massive Harry Potter Nerd โก๏ธโฃ

Luna is 1/2 Dalmatian & 1/2 Australian Shepard; and good gracious! Her energy levels and personality are proof of both those breeds. After some training on a running belt she has a wonderful running partner. The moment my running shoes are out of the closet she is sitting at my feet waiting for her harness. Luna is a whole new level of accountability partner, not letting me go more than two days before she starts pacing in front of the cabinet with her gear in it. โฃ

She has been a blessing of laughter watching her zoom around the yard, play hide & seek with Geronimo and then straight up wrestle my cat! โฃ

Luna is my reminder for patience and grace in training. The cuddle buddy who will literally lay on whatever side of your body is the topside ๐the most excited welcome home & energized good mornings zoomies every single day! Iโm so blessed to have Luna as my pupper even on the days her energy is more than I know what to do with! โฃ
