🚨 We are seeking 3 girls who are 10 years old and have played organized softball during the last 2 seasons. 🚨

Athletes must be:

⚔️ Ready to compete and accept challenges
⚔️ Committed to improving and never quitting

🥎 TODAY WAS ABOUT RANGE, REACTION & PURPOSE.

Today we worked with our shortstop and 2nd baseman on range and covering space.

At Texas Yankees 10U, we develop our shortstops and 2nd basemen with the same mindset when it comes to range and responsibilities. We want them to have the abilities of an outfielder which is speed, agility, arm strength, and endurance.

With our outfielders, we worked on keeping the ball off the ground. Our goal is NO BALLS HITTING THE GROUND.

If there is a ball we simply can’t get to, the next goal is ONE BOUNCE ONLY and an immediate reaction with a quick, accurate throw to our cutoff player.

We’re teaching them that every ball has a purpose and every position has a responsibility.

I’m HEAD COACH JUAN SALGADO, and I’m going to challenge my girls to reach their potential.

Is it easy? NO

They’re 9 and 10 years old. They’re still learning. They’re still developing. But that’s exactly why we teach. That’s why we challenge them. That’s why we push them to become better than they were yesterday.

I care about these girls. We care about them as a team.

Sometimes the way we coach isn’t easy. Sometimes they’re going to be challenged. Sometimes they’re going to have to work through things that are uncomfortable.

But everything we do has a purpose.

Whether you stay with Texas Yankees or one day take what you’ve learned somewhere else, I want the foundation to be set.

I want you to remember where you learned to work. Where you learned to compete.
Where you learned to trust yourself.
Where you learned that your position matters.
Where your mindset was first built, as a player on the TEXAS YANKEES. ⚔️

They need to learn from someone, so TEACH THEM. CHALLENGE THEM. DEVELOP THEM.

🥎 THE OUTFIELD IS EVERYTHING.

The outfield is one of the most important parts of your team. One mistake, one missed read, one ball that gets past you, and the game can change really fast and not in your favor.

That’s why we teach it. That’s why we challenge it. That’s why we give it purpose.

Outfielders need constant encouragement and praise because playing out there isn’t easy. It’s a position that doesn’t always get the recognition it deserves, but it can change the entire game.

At Texas Yankees Softball, we work heavy on the outfield because we understand its value.

WE NEED ELITE OUTFIELDERS.

We need players who want that role. Players who want to define what it means to be an outfielder. Players who want to learn, improve, make the plays, and take pride in being the last line of defense.

We don’t just put girls in the outfield.

We teach them how to read the ball.
We teach them how to attack the ball.
We teach them how to communicate.
We teach them how to make plays.
We teach them how to trust themselves.

WE LEARN. WE TEACH. WE DEVELOP.

The goal is not just to have girls standing in the outfield.

EVERYONE HAS A STARTING POINT ⚔️

In youth sports, everyone starts somewhere.

On the first day, a lot of athletes look the same. The difference doesn’t always show up right away.

It starts showing after your first day.
After your first 2 weeks.
After your first 3 months.
And after that, the separation begins.

Not because every girl starts with the same talent. But because of what she does with the opportunity to grow.

THE FIRST DAY IS JUST THE BEGINNING.

What separates athletes is the work they put in after the excitement wears off.
