Funded primarily by local property taxes, SPAR maintains over 550 acres of parks and multiple recreation facilities. 337-527-2500 Sulphur Parks and Recreation is an organization that provides parks & recreation services to Ward 4 Dist 2 of Calcasieu Parish. SPAR oversees over 500 acres of facilities including a recreation and aquatic center, waterpark and golf course. SPAR is also responsible for creating and administering the sports programs for the district. It is governed by a Board of five Commissioners who are appointed by the Calcasieu Parish Police Jury.
