β€οΈπ Asking our River Valley family to send some prayers, love, and healing vibes to Charles.
Charles took a hard fall during yesterdayβs clinic and will be off the bike for a while as he heals. If youβve spent time at the track this year, youβve probably seen his determination firsthand.
He started racing for the very first time this year and instantly fell in love with the sport and the community, just like so many of us. He showed up on an old-school bike that was way too small for him. And starting a new sport as you are older is tough but he didnβt let that stop him. He went out and raced week after week. A few spills along the way never took away his desire to keep learning and coming back.
Recently, Charles picked up a newer bike that fit him better, and he got right to work. Suddenly, he was right there in the pack, making moves and always wearing a smile.
During yesterdayβs clinic, I watched so many things click for him. He was putting skills together, building confidence, and making real progress. The difference between his first few laps and the ones later in the clinic was night and day. As his coach, that was incredibly rewarding to see, which makes knowing how badly heβs hurting now especially tough.
BMX comes with risks, and sometimes a crash brings a much harder road to recovery than any of us would hope for. It hurts to see someone in our track family facing that road.
Weβve received an update on Charlesβ behalf, and his spirits are high. He has a lot of healing ahead, but heβs still talking about how much he learned and how excited he is to keep riding. That sounds exactly like Charles.
He is the most determined rider Iβve seen all year. His dedication to improving and his willingness to help out around the track are world class. Weβre so proud to have him in our River Valley family.
Charles, take all the time you need to heal. Your track family is behind you every step of the way, and weβll be here whenever youβre ready. β€οΈ
Please leave Charles some encouragement below and help us send a little of that River Valley love his way.
