The Town is looking to fill two current vacancies and establish a one year eligibility list for future appointments.
DATE OF POSTING: February 10, 2023
JOB TITLE: POLICE OFFICER
SALARY: Probationary Rate: $30.32/hour ($1,137/wk)
BENEFITS: Full Benefit package, professional work environment, opportunity for advancement
HOURS OF WORK: 4 consecutive 8 hour shifts, 2 consecutive days off, rotating schedule
day/afternoon/late watch: shift assignments per union contract
LOCATION: Wilbraham Police Department, 2780 Boston Road
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES: Patrols town neighborhoods, receives dispatch information, responds to emergencies and crime incidents, makes arrests, issues traffic citations, prepares detailed written reports, participates in judicial proceedings as witness/department representative, delivers summonses, warrants and subpoenas, etc.
MIN QUALIFICATIONS: HS Diploma or GED; valid MA driver’s license, valid MA Fi****ms License; First Responder, AED, CPR and Defibrillator certification; 2 years full time (or equivalent) related work experience; successful completion of training at an accredited Massachusetts Police Academy for full time police officers (or accepted equivalent) required by end of probationary period; must pass medical and Massachusetts Physical Agility Test for police officers and background check;
PREFERRED: Certificate of completion from an approved
Massachusetts Police Academy at time of hire; additional
course work in law enforcement related subjects or College Degree in Law Enforcement or Criminal Justice;
