Those 10 years went by so fast! Grateful to have worked with so many young & adult dancers from beginner to professional level and to have shared the incredible benefits that Pilates has to supplement their dance practice. Karen Clippinger’s workshop hosted by was so educational and just simply the best. 10 years ago I was still dancing ballet professionally and you better believe I used what I learned to keep my body strong, pain-free, and injury-free. 🩰💪🏼

Let's redefine our WHY behind exercise! 💪✨ It's not just about the numbers on the scale or achieving a specific look. Exercise is an incredible journey to a stronger, happier, and healthier version of ourselves. It's about celebrating what our bodies can DO and how they make us feel. It boosts our mood, enhances our energy, and supports our overall well-being. So let's shift the focus from 'losing' to 'gaining' – gaining strength, confidence, vitality, and a deep connection with our amazing bodies. Embrace exercise as a way to thrive, both physically and mentally.

Walking is one of the safest and most accessible exercises for new mothers during the early postpartum period. Going on gentle walks not only promotes physical recovery but also nurtures your mental and emotional well-being. Physical benefits include increasing blood circulation, which is essential for your body's healing process, increasing mobility, and decreasing aches and pains caused by stiffness. Mental benefits include relieving stress, promoting better sleep, and boosting energy. Begin with short walks around your home or neighborhood with your little one at least once a day to get some nice, fresh air. When possible, going without the baby is great too, for a little mental break and for a moment of tranquility 😌

Are you newly postpartum?
You may have heard the myth that you have to wait for your 6-week check up to do ANY exercise. But the truth is there are simple things that are safe to start right away after delivering, as soon as it feels good to you.
1. Walking
2. Gentle core recovery & pelvic floor activations
3. Light stretching
Of course there is NO pressure to start these right away. The first six weeks after giving birth are a critical period of rest and recovery, and it's essential to prioritize your well-being and safety. But by engaging in safe exercises and gradually progressing as your body allows, you can support your postpartum recovery and lay a strong foundation for future exercise routines.
In my next posts, I will share the benefits for each one of these as well as videos of the core recovery exercises and stretches that will help your body feel better with all the new demands placed on your body while caring for a newborn.

“It’s been 84 years…” Feels like it 😂👵🏼💙of the 🌊 🚢
Took a ballet class for the first time since before the pandemic. It felt amazing to dance and fly again. After all the teaching I’ve been doing, it was refreshing to just be one of the students again. Somehow I survived the class and surprisingly got my old bones off the floor. 😅 I know I’m always preaching Pilates, but it truly has helped keep my body strong, flexible, centered, and injury-free. I’ll be back for more when my calves and arches recover 😄
