We would like to wish Keisuke-san a safe journey home to Japan. Kei-san, as we fondly called him, has been part of our kyudojo for the past two years while serving with the Consulate General of Japan in Miami. As his term concludes, we say farewell to someone who became like family to us. He brought with him a wealth of kyudo knowledge, and his kindness, smile, and infectious laugh will be truly missed.

This past Wednesday, we had the pleasure of hosting a 2-hour Kyudo demonstration and workshop for the Florida International University Japan Club. From introducing the practice and spirit of Kyudo to showcasing the traditional equipment yumi (bow), ya (arrows), and attire, it was a fantastic opportunity to share this beautiful art.
We also used this opportunity to briefly share our experience as junior members of the Ogasawara Ryū America Branch, offering a glimpse into the dedication involved in training in Reihō (etiquette and form), Kisha (mounted archery), and Hōsha (ceremonial shooting), and the broader cultural aspects surrounding these practices.
The highlight was seeing everyone step up and experience Kyudo firsthand. The focus, curiosity, and positive energy in the room made the evening truly special.
A big thank you to the FIU Japan Club for the warm welcome and excellent organization, we truly appreciate the opportunity to connect and share Japanese culture together.
Looking forward to the next one!

On Saturday the 3rd January 2026, Florida-based Ogasawara-ryū America members performed the Momote Shiki ceremony as part of the Morikami Japanese Gardens and Museum’s New Year celebration.
The event was well attended, the weather was beautiful, and the ceremony was completed as planned.
We would like to thank Tim and Maria San for their guidance and support, along with Wendy and Heather from Morikami and everyone else who helped make this ceremony possible.
