Fun fact: Moss is the coral of Iceland 🇮🇸 Beautiful but no touch, it’s thousands of years old.

🦁 6 Lionfish caught!
3 females + 3 males = an estimated 90,000 eggs prevented from being released and thousands of reef fish potentially saved. 🪸🐠🐠🐠

💪🧜🏻‍♀️🧜🏻‍♂️💦 CONSERVATION IN ACTION!

We may not be able to eradicate lionfish, but we can help regulate their population.

As an invasive species, lionfish have no natural predators in the Caribbean. They can heavily impact native reef fish and disrupt the delicate balance of our reef ecosystem. That’s why we step in.

🎯 One fish at a time!

Pretty doesn’t mean they belong here.
Watched the Destination Dive Marathon episode — they nailed it. Those flamboyant fins? Venomous. Those “pretty” fish? Voracious.
Studies show lionfish have stripped 75–90% of the food native fish need. They’ve been documented eating 170+ species: juvenile snapper and grouper, parrotfish, cleaner shrimp, and everything in between.
Someone dumped aquarium fish into the Atlantic. The population exploded. In these waters, humans are now their only real predators.
Derbies and regular hunts are working in the shallows — there are fewer than there used to be. Deeper water and spots divers can’t easily reach? Still packed. One mature female can release 30–50,000 eggs every few days. Do the math.
The first time I saw one, I thought it was beautiful. Then someone speared it and explained. I’ve taken thousands since. Still not beautiful enough to leave on the reef.
Take the class. Join a hunt. Eat one. Every lionfish we remove gives the natives a chance.
