Stand on the summit of Mexico's highest peak.

Pico de Orizaba (Citlaltépetl) rises to 18,491 ft (5,636 m) — the third-highest summit in North America, and one of the most accessible high-altitude glaciated volcanoes on the continent.

Our 6-day guided climb is built for climbers with some snow and ice experience looking for a focused, efficient itinerary: proper acclimatization on Sierra Negra, a technical refresher above Piedra Grande, and a flexible two-day summit window so your guide can pick the best forecast day. Groups are capped at 3 climbers with a 1:3 guide ratio — this is a private expedition, not a crowded trip.

Some mountains test you not with altitude, but with conditions.

Mt. Baker gave us everything: fog, rain, wind, ice, and a long, demanding summit day. But step by step, the team stayed positive, kept moving, and earned an unforgettable sense of accomplishment above the clouds.

A true reminder that perseverance often matters more than perfect weather.

Congratulations to both climbers on their successful ascent of Mt. Baker!

Short-roping isn’t just an advanced guiding technique. It can also be a practical tool in alpine climbing.

Sometimes, when weight matters, a team carries only one pair of crampons as a backup or because they’re unsure what conditions they’ll find on the route. The first climber carefully descends without crampons (or with microspikes), while the second, wearing crampons, controls the movement on a short rope.

Used with experience and good judgment, it’s another way to move safely and efficiently in the mountains.

Day 2 of our Multi-Pitch Rock Climbing Class took us to the classic First Flatiron Direct Route.

After spending Day 1 learning rope management, anchor transitions, belaying from above, lowering, and rappelling, it was time to put those skills into practice on real terrain.

Unlike the bolted training route from Day 1, today we applied those skills on a more traditional route where the climbing felt much closer to what you encounter in the mountains.

Multi-pitch climbing is about much more than just climbing. Efficient systems, communication, route-finding, and sound decision-making are what keep a team moving safely and effectively.

A look back at Day 1 of our Multi-Pitch Rock Climbing Class in Clear Creek Canyon.

These climbers already had experience leading trad routes together, but multi-pitch climbing requires a different level of teamwork and efficiency.

We spent the day practicing rope management, anchor transitions, belaying from above and rappelling before putting it all together on a multi-pitch climb.

Strong climbers become better multi-pitch climbers by mastering the systems between the pitches.
