I have joined the organization as a Strength and Conditioning intern for their G-League team, the
Silly words can’t capture what this means to me or how far I’ve traveled from La Romana 🇩🇴 to take this first step.
Every place and person teaches lessons, and I am grateful for where I’ve been and who I’ve been with.
The job's not done, but we have to start somewhere to get anywhere.

That first ankle roll in college didn’t feel like much — just another sprain. But three years later, after re-injuring the same joint, I realized something was wrong. I developed Chronic Ankle Instability (CAI) — the silent performance thief no one talks about. I am honored to have been named the 2025 Strength and Conditioning Coach of the Year for the Carolina League.
This award goes to my wife, , my parents, and my sister. Nobody will ever know how much you’ve carried me through my ups and downs this year. And, there were many more downs than ups.
I hope this award inspires my fellow Dominican and Hispanic coaches trying to make their way into the performance world.
Congratulations to my colleagues, who are also receiving their respective awards. Absolute studs.
A special shoutout to my staff, and
Last but not least, extreme gratitude to my coordinators, for their unwavering support throughout my career.

Went on a walk through Downtown Hickory.
Squirrels, Carolina, and old railroads leading to God knows where.

Just shared a new article on my website (maurocastillomd.com).
To me, warm-ups are essential. They reveal a lot about an athlete's dedication and respect for their body. Those who take the time to properly prepare will perform better and longer.
Don’t be that guy/girl skipping your warm-ups. Respect your craft from top to bottom.
