OUAZ Water Polo

OUAZ Men's Water Polo competed in the 2022 Gary Troyer Tournament on September 30 and October 1. Friday started with a win against Concordia (15-10) followed by a loss to California Baptist (11-25). Both games were in Claremont, Calif.

OUAZ Men’s Water Polo Spirit met up with University of Redlands Bulldogs at the Thompson Aquatic Center in Redlands, CA. OUAZ’s Travis Alvarado scored 3 goals, Johnathan Wong made 2 goals and Ian Tauer added 1.

USAF ACADEMY, Colo. – The OUAZ men's water polo team split its two games at the Rare Air Invitational on Sunday. OUAZ fell to Biola 13-10 to start the day and then came back for a 21-7 win over LIU to complete the weekend.

OUAZ Wins Twice to Start Weekend

RIVERSIDE, Calif. – The OUAZ men's water polo team picked up its first two wins of the season on Friday as the team opened its six-game weekend road trip. OUAZ defeated Mt. San Antonio College 17-6 to begin its day and then picked up a 20-11 victory over Riverside City College.

The Spirit took a 5-0 lead after the first quarter of play against Mt. San Antonio College. The lead reached 11-2 by halftime. OUAZ finished with 36 shots while allowing only 22.

Jonathan Wong scored seven times in the win, with Travis Alvarado adding another four.

In the win over Riverside, the Spirit used a 7-1 run through the first and second quarter to turn a 2-2 tie into a 9-3 lead. The lead was 15-9 entering the fourth quarter when OUAZ scored the Tigers 5-2 to clinch the win.

OUAZ will begin play at the Inland Empire Classic with two games on Saturday. They start with a second game against Riverside at 1 p.m., with a 5 p.m. contest against Chapman to follow.

Water Polo Falls Twice in California - OUAZ Athletics ORANGE, Calif. – The OUAZ men's water polo team began its new season with two losses on Saturday in California. OUAZ started the day with a 12-10 loss at Saddleback College. The Spirit then fell 14-9 at Chapman.

OUAZ Director of Athletics Kevin Steele announced on Thursday that he has elevated Greg Farrier to interim head coach of the Spirit water polo programs. Farrier takes over the position after working as the assistant coach this past season.
