Greens were topdressed Monday in order to create more consistency between the greens. They are a bit slower today due to the sand but the speed will be back by the weekend.

For those who have tried to access our blog site, we are currently experiencing problems with content updating. Bear with us as we work with Blogger.com to solve the problem.
This week we have been working on the bunkers. We fly-mowed bunker faces, edged bunker edges, and sprayed growth regulator on turf around bunkers. The growth regulator will help slow down the rate of turf growth resulting in less frequency of maintenance. The greens are growing and recovering really well. The new Putting Green is filling in nicely we have slowly lowered the cutting height, and will be topdressing the surface to smooth out the putting surface. We also have plans to spike and fertilize the fairways to promote rapid turf growth. Leave a comment let us know what you think.
The greens are healing nicely and should be in pretty good shape soon. We fertilized the greens Monday to improve growth and color. We are continuing to treat ant hills on the course as well as trying to get the Insects under control in #15 greens bunker. Mowing of the golf course will continue...until the end of the season. In the coming weeks will begin to kill out the Ryegrass in the practice areas as well as par 3 tees. Check back for future updates.
Greens Aerification is complete. Now the real work begins as the weather warms up. We will be continuing to drag. roll and fertilize the greens until we reach normal playing conditions. The Bermuda grass is also on the "rise" we have already begun a weekly mowing schedule, but certain areas will still be hard and matted down. This is due to the cart traffic in the winter on dormant grass as well as only top growth with the Bermuda. So the "plush" lies in the fairways will be coming soon, when the ground temp rises to around 75 to 80 degrees that when Bermuda grass really starts growing.
This week we top dressed the new practice green, and very happy with the progress of grow in. We are also flymowing bunker faces, and mowing all turf. We will also be applying pre-emergent as well as another round of bermuda grass control to the greens this week, to help prevent summer weeds.
Welcome Spring 2012....about a month early??? March is usually a month we start to transition into warmer weather, mowing, pollen, and warm season weeds. Due to the unusually Fast warm up this year we have already begun mowing, and other "late" spring activities. We are preparing for aerification Monday 3/26/12, and keeping fingers crossed this warming trend does not continue thru the summer.
