Madison Jackson Puts On Strong Contact Performance As Swansea Varsity Tigers Take The Win Over Newberry

Madison Jackson collected three hits in three at bats, as Swansea Varsity Tigers defeated Newberry 23-6 on Thursday. Jackson singled in the third inning, singled in the second inning, and singled in the fourth inning.

Swansea Varsity Tigers came back to win despite trailing 5-1 in the first.

Swansea Varsity Tigers were the first to get on the board in the first when Abigail Brazier singled, scoring one run.

Newberry flipped the game on its head in the bottom of the first, scoring five runs on two hits to take the lead, 5-1. The biggest blow in the inning was an error that drove in two.

Swansea Varsity Tigers made the score 8-5 in the top of the third after Jackson singled, scoring one run, Riley Porter singled, scoring one run, and Channing Padgett doubled, scoring two runs.

Swansea Varsity Tigers scored 15 runs on six hits in the top of the fourth inning. K Williams induced Porter to hit into a fielder's choice, but one run scored, an error scored one run, an error scored two runs, an error scored one run, Brynlee Moody singled, scoring one run, Aleasha Riley doubled, scoring two runs, Jazz’Lynn Smith drew a walk, scoring one run, Porter drew a walk, scoring one run, Padgett drew a walk, scoring one run, Brazier singled, scoring one run, and Iyanna Butler doubled, scoring three runs.

Porter earned the win for Swansea Varsity Tigers. The starter gave up five hits and six runs (three earned) over four innings, striking out three and walking two. C Roberts took the loss for Newberry. The pitcher went two-thirds of an inning, allowing three runs on two hits, striking out none and walking two. K Williams began the game for Newberry. The hurler surrendered 14 hits and 20 runs (seven earned) over three and one-third innings, striking out one and walking six.

Swansea Varsity Tigers accumulated 16 hits in the game. Brazier, Padgett, and Butler each drove in three runs for Swansea Varsity Tigers. Porter and Riley each collected multiple hits for Swansea Varsity Tigers. Swansea Varsity Tigers had patience at the plate, piling up eight walks for the game. Porter and Butler led the team with two bases on balls each. McKinley Browder, Jackson, Riley, and Smith each stole multiple bases for Swansea Varsity Tigers. Swansea Varsity Tigers stole 14 bases in the game.

S Trapp and C Roberts were a force together in the lineup, as they each collected two hits for Newberry while hitting back-to-back. C Roberts led Newberry with one run batted in. The catcher went 2-for-3 on the day. Newberry stole four bases in the game. Newberry turned one double play in the game.
