Ivan Lee is the First American male fencer to win a Junior Olympic Championship, a National Championship, an NCAA Championship, a World Championship, a Pan American Championship, and make an Olympic Team. Lee is also the first Black American man to become a World Champion. He is a five-time Senior Men's Sabre National Champion, and a two-time NCAA Individual Champion. Lee was named the 2001 USOPC Male Athlete of the Year, and has been inducted into the USA Fencing Hall of Fame. Lee began fencing at the Peter Westbrook Foundation nearly 30 years ago and still resides in New York today, serving as Long Island University's Fencing Teams' Head Coach as well as a NYC Police Officer. We are honored to feature Ivan during USA Fencing's Week of Firsts of Black History Month.

We're so proud of Addie Mantoan who has been recognized for her academic achievements! USA Fencing and Absolute Fencing Gear have once again partnered to recognize young fencers who have excelled in high school with All-Academic Team honors.
Athletes with a GPA of at least 3.85 (94 or better) are eligible to be named to the First All-Academic Team.
Way to go Addie!!!
