If you don't know already, employers are now starting to hold virtual interviews instead of conducting them in person.

Here are a few tips to help you prepare for your virtual interview:

1️⃣ Dress professionally as you would when attending an in-person interview. This includes hair, make-up, shaving, etc.

2️⃣ Go to a quiet area in your home to avoid interruptions and unnecessary background noise.

3️⃣ Close out of any extra windows and documents other than the window that you'll be doing your interview in. This will minimize distractions and allow you to give the interviewer your undivided attention.

4️⃣ Login to the interview about 5-7 minutes as a display of your interest in the job and your professionalism.

If you need more help with preparing for your interviews please feel free to contact our office, we'd love to help!

When applying for a job, please make sure you have your own personal resume. You can spend so much time trying to fill everything out manually.

When you have your own personal resume, sometimes it will auto-populate into websites so that you don't have to type in everything on your own.

Even if it doesn't auto-populate, it is still always good to have your own personal resume in case you have to present it to someone on the spot or if you apply for a job in person, you can bring it with you.

If you need assistance applying for jobs please feel free to reach out to our office.

⚠ Please Note: You must be a refugee or New American in the US for 5 years or less in order to qualify for any of the BBE programs.

Did you know that there certain things that you should not be putting on your resume?

Here's a short list of a few of them:

1. Unprofessional Email Addresses. Your email address should be as simple as possible to identify who you are. Please do not think an employer will take you seriously if your email address is "[email protected]." First name, last name and that's all you need for your email address. There are plenty of platforms that you can use to create a new free email address, so please, get those unprofessional email addresses OUT of your resume.

2. Your full mailing address. Due to identity theft and discrimination, putting your full mailing address on a resume is not recommended. If you're looking for a local job and to demonstrate that you're local, simply putting the state and city where you live is fine.

3. Extremely old jobs. You should be listing employment from the previous 5 years unless any jobs further than that are relevant to the position you're applying for. Even if it does, be sure to only list the appropriate skills that are relevant to the job. Be sure you aren't making any of these mistakes when updating your resume. It will allow you to have the space you need on your resume and give the interviewer or job recruiter enough time to skim through your resume.

This is why it's super important for employers to make sure that the environment they currently have in their company is diverse, supportive, and hard-working individuals.

Here at the BBE program, we have tons of individuals that are qualified work-wise and on a personal level. Not only that, but we assist employers with communicating with our clients and making sure all needs are met, and that everyone has a clear understanding of what work needs to be done, on both ends.

If you're an employer looking to hire non-entry level workers or looking for more diversity within your company, give us a call today and we can help!

Usually, when you're in need of money you try to take what you can get and then work your way up until you find out that someone who was less qualified than you got the job and was paid the salary they asked for!

Don't be shy, ask and you shall receive. If not, you can always negotiate something that will work best for you or you can find something else, no worries.
