This will be presented on Saturday, August 8th, 2026, at the SU National Veterans Resource Center on Waverly Ave. All are welcome to attend to support SSGT Hull and acknowledge his accomplishments.

Ray Rinaldi, longtime Syracuse boxing icon and advocate for youth, dies at 96 Ray Rinaldi has been working with at-risk in Syracuse since the 1950s.

One of the nicest and most enjoyable activities that any Commander can be a part of is the recognition of individual achievement. This responsibility presents challenges as well; it requires careful assessment of each decision with a desire to include as many individuals as possible. However, we are constrained by a limited budget and deliberately limit our awards to ensure that our selections represent the highest of the Onondaga County American Legion. We carefully narrow a list of outstanding candidates to a select few whose recognized actions exemplify qualities that should serve as a model for others.

NOTE: Missing is the Commander's Award for Excellence in Membership, awarded to Robert J. Hydon Post 239's Membership Chairman, Thomas Blair, for his Post having the third-highest renewal rate in Onondaga County this year, 102.29%, and the 4th-highest retention rate in the 5th District, 100.95%.
