If you sit hunched over a computer for 40 hours per week, you’re probably going to wind up with a overly kyphotic (rounded) thoracic spine (upper back). Conversely, if you do this for a living, you’re going to be pushing a lot more thoracic extension and rotation. Some of these athletes will actually adopt a more extended (flat) upper back posture. Rather than programming drills to further exacerbate this thoracic extension, you are better off giving them drills encourage flexion. Reach with the arms, rotate with the scaps, and round through the upper back.
