Riders 4 Recovery

Tomorrow is the first cycling event I've put on in collaboration with Trek and I am just 2 days from co-facilitating my first ever Train the Trainer (Supervision of Peer Supporters) and less than a week from my trip to Spain with Lorrin McGinnis Gehring ❤️❤️

We are going to be diving into the culture of several cities enjoying a championship soccer game, diving into gaudi exhibits, visiting some of my ancestors' home town (Avila), and so much more.

I am grateful for the amazing humans I have met in my 12 years in the peer support world!!

This has been a month of stretching, working over 100%, soul care, falling in love with life, and exploring another layer of what life has to offer.

I am thrilled to announce that I have joined Recovery Beyond as the newest board member. Their mission is to empower individuals in their recovery journey by offering support, education, and advocacy, while nurturing sustained health and wholeness through the transformative power of outdoor activity and adventure 🚵‍♀️🤾‍♀️🤸‍♂️🏊‍♀️🧗🏃

🏞 Discovery Journey:
I first learned about this incredible organization through the Washington Peer Network (thanks to Thomas Jackson!). After joining Recovery Beyond as a member, I progressed to volunteer lead status and now proudly serve as a board member.

🚴‍♀️ Cycling Transformation:
I am eager to share how cycling has played a pivotal role in my recovery journey, serving as a powerful outlet for emotions, promoting overall well-being, and connecting me with the vibrant cycling community in Tacoma.

🌠 Exciting Future Plans:
This summer, alongside Gus and Angie, I am thrilled to present our community project, Riders 4 Recovery, at the 2024 Peer Pathways conference.

R4R We Wednesday ride is TOMORROW! I look forward to seeing familiar and new faces there 🥳🚴

I'm ready for the upcoming "We Wednesday's" Riders 4 Recovery ride with 2nd Cycle and Recovery Beyond on May 22nd!!

All bikes, people, and abilities welcomed 🚲 🫶🏼

I'm recovering after the Destiny Dozen with 2nd Cycle, and so grateful I challenged the voice that told me I couldn't do it. It was because of the encouragement I received from riding buddies along the way!

I was TERRIFIED!!! And I am so glad I didn't let my anxiety and disaster mind stop me from this opportunity to ride alongside so many amazing, humans!

I arrived late, but was able to get 8 of the 13 hills completed. Huge gratitude shout out to everyone that participated and supported this ride

💚 Grateful beyond words for the amazing souls that joined us for the inaugural "We Wednesdays" ride with partners and 🚲 ✨️ Your presence and energy made the night unforgettable!

Deep belly laughter, shared stories, deep connections, gratitude, and the sheer joy of riding bikes in the beautiful PNW spring sun ☀️

Today, I'm riding hard 💪🏼 (my 1st ever hill sprints workout) for my friends and family who didn't feel safe enough to share their mental health struggles. In honor of them and countless others who suffer in silence, I ride for you ❤️.

Sharing my story of rising against the odds has allowed me to grow through my traumas and live life in a way I never imagined possible.
