Highline Pirate Track and Field by Me

Middle of summer is the perfect time to get caught up on spring photos...right?

On May 3, 2019, Highline School District had its meet at Memorial Field. Beautiful weather plus great kids hanging around a track means great things are about to happen.

The highlight of the meet for the Pirates was the last race of the meet. Not sure when the tradition began, but there is the "Thrower's Relay" - a fierce foot race with bragging rights going to the winner for the year.

Your hard work paid off at State 2019 PIrates...Congrats!

It can stop raining now.... what a wet, wet day! It sprinkled during the 11 am race, and bets were being placed on how wet t he 5:30 race would be. After hanging out in the mostly dry tent, except for the slight doughnut disaster, the downpours began to pass, and by the last Pirate race of the day it was back to sprinkles...yeah!

Day two ended with another trip to "The Cave" for the Pirate crew, and a scandelous adventure including purple nail polish and a permanat marker.

Until Cross Country....Run, Pirates, Run!

This is Day Two of State. I wasn't able to make Day One, which had Pirates qualifying for some of the Top 8 Finals today. Today had prelims for the girls 800m and hurdles, and finals for boys hurdles.

May 17-18, 2019, was Districts at Bremerton High School. Several Pirates qualified for State.

4th fastest in the state...

4:06.17 (ish)

...and "Texas" (Dru) left it all on the track with an incredible lap where she got to first for a moment!

PS. I told you Coach Post it wouldn't rain during your race! 😁
