Southern comfort was on the menu for Casual Friday! 🍗🥧🍂

Members gathered for a Southern Comfort-themed potluck, filling the Clubhouse with plenty of delicious homemade dishes and good company. With the weather starting to cool down in Tahoe, an evening of warm comfort food and time spent with fellow members definitely hit the spot!

Another perfect Raft Up Thursday in the books! ⚓️☀️

Last week, members met up in beautiful Meeks Bay to soak up one of the last lake days of the season. With sunshine, calm water, and great company, we couldn’t have asked for a better day to raft up and enjoy Lake Tahoe together.

The temperatures may have dropped since then, but we’re glad we squeezed in one more beautiful day on the water before fall settles in! 💙🌊

ILCA Championship (Lasers) – Sept. 12 & 13 ⛵️🏆

What a windy, windy, windy weekend! 💨💨💨 Sailors like wind, but not 20–25 knots with gusts in the 30s! Especially in these small, lightweight, singlehanded boats. Ten races for each of the three ILCA divisions were planned, but the Race Committee was only able to run three while waiting for the weather to calm down. 🌬️🌊

So, we don’t have any action photos of the sailors because most of the weekend was spent on the sailing version of a wind hold. 🚩 But here’s a photo of one of our support boats adjusting a mark that wouldn’t stay anchored due to the wind and rough water! 🌊

Twenty-four sailors from around Lake Tahoe and the Bay Area were ready for a weekend of great racing, camaraderie and our spectacular venue. ⛵️🏔️ Instead, much of the weekend was spent on land waiting for calmer conditions. Fortunately, the planned Saturday evening BBQ went ahead as scheduled, and everyone gathered at TYC to enjoy the camaraderie ashore. 🍔🍻 A highlight of the evening was the traditional “Whitey Cup” 🏆, presented to John Siegel for his over-the-top enthusiasm and support of sailboat racing.

On Sunday, conditions were still iffy, but the Race Committee managed to squeeze in three races for each of the ILCA 4, ILCA 6 and ILCA 7 divisions before canceling the rest due to an increasing number of capsizes. ⛵️💦 Given the high winds, three races was a victory in itself! 🙌

After racing was called, competitors gathered at the Lake Forest Boat Launch for championship awards 🏆, wrapping up a wild and memorable weekend of ILCA racing on Lake Tahoe! ⛵️🌊🏔️

The Dick Ferris Wednesday Night Beer Can Racing Summer Series

That’s a 2026 wrap! ⛵ The Wednesday Night Beer Can Racing Summer Series has officially crossed the finish line. Seventeen boats battled through just about everything Tahoe could throw at them this summer, from challenging winds to the impossibility of no wind at all.

The competition was as tough as ever, but the post-race camaraderie and awards party made every tack and gybe worthwhile. 🍻Huge congratulations to all our winners 🏆 and a big shout-out to Mike Simmons for corralling (aka cat herding) a stellar Race Committee week after week. 👏

A gigantic TYC thank you 🙌 goes to every skipper, crew member and volunteer who made both the both the Spring and Summer Keelboat Series such a success. And MUCH appreciation to the Wednesday night TYC staff who, week after week, weathered the amped-up racers in full après-race mode! 🍻

That’s it for 2026. See you on the water in 2027! 🌊

Monday Night Dinghy Racing - Summer Series Final

The Monday Night Dinghy Racing series has completed its last race for 2026. Summer Series standings listed below.


These hardy sailors (posing on land!) represent some of the Monday Night Dinghy racers. The Spring Series brought the usual varied weather, which these Dinghy sailors navigated with expertise!

Dinghy sailing is attracting keelboat sailors more and more. Division 1 first place Summer Series winner, and keelboat skipper, Rick Raduziner, continues to set the pace, along with several familiar keelboat crew members who have recently joined the Monday night fleet. Martin Gibson, a national Melges 24 competitor and current feature in Block & Tackle’s “Sailor Spotlight”, Randy Thomas, regular crew aboard Rick Raduziner’s keelboat, “Lickety Split”, and Sasha Lerner, a regular Moore 24 competitor, are all members enjoying the challenge of both one-person and keelboat crew racing!

🏈🍂 First Friday: Tailgate Edition! 🍂🏈

Fall sports season is officially underway at TYC! Members showed up in their team colors and kicked off the season with a tailgate spread worthy of game day—delicious chili, pigs in a blanket, deviled eggs, and plenty of other favorites. 🌭🏟️

A huge thank you to our incredible hosts Heidi & Claudia Bensley, Kelly Lane, Susan Johnson, and Lisha Ruud, who truly went above and beyond to make the evening such a success. The Club was full, the food was delicious, and the team spirit was strong!

⚓️ Another year in the books at TYC!

Today’s Annual Meeting gave us the opportunity to reflect on another incredible year at the Tahoe Yacht Club, celebrate all that we accomplished together, and look ahead to what’s on the horizon.

Members also voted in our new slate of Board members who will help lead TYC into the year ahead. Thank you to everyone who joined us, and to our outgoing and incoming leadership for their dedication to the Club.

That’s a wrap on another unforgettable OTB season! 🏁🛥️🕺

We closed out the year with our final race and an epic End-of-Season Party hosted by last year’s champs, Shore Amor! Everyone showed up in their ’80s best and danced the afternoon away thanks to our DJ. 🎶🪩

A huge congratulations to Bruce Ells, captain of Uli Uli, who took home this year’s OTB Season Championship Trophy! 🏆 That also means Uli Uli will have the honor of hosting next year’s shindig — and we already can’t wait to see what they have in store.

Cheers to another season of friendly competition, great parties, and plenty of OTB shenanigans. We’re already counting down to next year! ⚓️🥂
