NEVER DOUBT that Team Takoma was ready to rock yesterday at COPA NOVA Fall 2026. Our timeless motto “we know jiujitsu” was on full display as we kept it weird and threw down on the mat. Here are the results from our competitors:

-Coach Nick won🥇in No Gi going up in weight to 163lbs
-Diana won DOUBLE GOLD🥇🥇in Gi (also going up in weight to Super Heavy!) and No Gi. Diana went 4-0, finishing all her matches by submission without a single point to be scored on her 🙌
-Yohans placed 🥉in No Gi and picked up a sick armbar sub along the way. We’re super proud 👏
-Rosetti placed 🥉in the advanced absolute cash prize division. Rosetti had some memorable performances as always 👏
-Jay came ready to scrap, but unfortunately her opponent pulled out the day of the tournament, and a replacement could not be found! We all know what she was about to do on the mat 💀

Thanks to Coach Yoftahe for providing his sage guidance and coaching, and thanks to all our training partners who helped us along the way. We also had a few athletes who couldn’t compete due to personal, medical, and family reasons, but they worked hard to get ready for this tournament, and we want to acknowledge the training they put in.

Capital MMA as a whole won both the Gi and No Gi TEAM TITLE, so a big congrats to all the other Capital athletes who competed! Capital MMA Lorton Capital MMA & Elite Fitness - Herndon Capital MMA & Elite Fitness

As the last day of Masters Worlds 2026 comes to a conclusion, Team Takoma’s final two athletes stepped onto the mat to bring the ruckus 😈

The stalwart Diana placed🥉at her weight going 1-1, and then stepped up to the open class division where she went on a tear winning her first three matches to make it to the finals. She ended up placing 🥈, and we are absolute aamazed at her performances!

Jessica had a nailbiter for a first match in her division. Down on points but not deterred, she pulled out a last second back take to take the win! She ended up going 1-1 in her division; we are so proud of her hard work!

All in all, Takoma put in great performances at a world class tournament, and we couldn’t be prouder of our athletes.
