Hi everyone! My name is Jessica and I am a Yoga and Barre Eclipse certified fitness instructor. I am

11/06/2022

I've been spending some time focusing on my little family recently. This past year has been a whirlwind and I wouldn't have been able to make it without the amazing support I have at home.

Laylah getting sick has been an eye opener for us and we are reprioritizing some stuff in our life. I hope everyone has a wonderful Sunday. I'll be laying around with the pups and eating snacks all day ❤️

Is it just me or did this month FLY by?! I swear it'll be 2023 before we know it! If this last year has taught me anything, it's that we can't wait until things are "perfect" to make moves.

The most common conversation I have with my clients begins with "Ill be more consistent when..." or "I'll start prioritizing my health once..." There is always going to be something in your life that needs improvement, or is taking up time but it's up to us to prioritize ourselves.

What's something that you've been wanting to start? Or something you've been wanting to finish? I challenge you to spend 15 minutes working towards it today.

It might not seem like a lot but if you spend just 15 minutes a week working towards your goal, you will have spent 13 hours on it in a year. Imagine how many things you could get done in 13 hours!

I bet most of you spend at least 15 minutes scrolling on social media or flipping through TV channels every day. Next time you notice yourself mindlessly scrolling, set a 15 minute timer and work on something that sets your heart on fire! I promise you, you will feel invigorated when you're done.

If moving your body and focusing on your health is one of your goals, reach out to me for a free consultation. Regardless of your situation, we can find a way to begin incorporating mindful movement into your day.

Stay tuned for NEW On Demand Barre classes coming soon! All 15 minutes or below so you can fit them into your busy schedules.

Wishing everyone a beautiful Friday ❤️🙏

When you hear the word "yoga" what do you picture?

Do you see flexible, thin women doing handstands and splits? If so, you're not alone in this thinking and that makes me sad. So much time is spent on the aesthetics of yoga asana that we alienate and intimidate people to the point that even the word "yoga" can be triggering for some and can cause intense self doubt.

"I'm not flexible enough for yoga"
"Yoga is for skinny people"
"Yoga doesn't work for men"
"Yoga is only for able-bodied people"
"Yoga people are stuck up"
"I'm tired of being prescribed yoga for ______"

I hear these comments almost daily.

Yoga is soooo much more than just a pretty pose. The poses that are used in Yoga are called "asana" and they are only ONE of the eight limbs of yoga.

ANYONE can do yoga. And it's the fault of teachers, me included, for making people feel excluded from this community. My goal when I started my online studio was to make yoga and barre accessible to everyone.

Whether you have never excercised before, have a chronic condition, a disability, or just don't enjoy moving your body, I want you to feel seen, heard, and comfortable in my classes.

If you've never tried a yoga class before or had a bad experience in one please DM me. I'd love you to try a class out for free and see what yoga is really about.

You have two chances to practice yoga with me tonight at 7:30 PM & 9:00 PM. Click the link in bio to sign up!

"To be yourself in a world that is constantly trying to make you something else is the greatest accomplishment" -Ralph Waldo Emerson

Reminding myself every day that I was made this way for a reason. I may not always fit in or think the same as the people around me but thats because I'm not supposed to.

Be you. Authentically you.

And don't let the noise around you drown out who you really are ❤️

Drop a "🙌" in the comments if you're with me!

See you all tonight for another amazing Legs and Glutes class at 6:30 PM EST. Click the link in bio to sign up or send me a DM so we can discuss your individual movement goals!

Time for an honest post.

I think it's important for me to start being more transparent on my page and show more of who I am as a person.

And part of who I am, is someone dealing with a chronic neurological disorder. Even though I often mention my narcolepsy, or share a quick anecdote, I hide the parts that scare me and that I'm ashamed of.

My most frequent symptom is automatic behaviors. This is when I look awake, I'm performing a task as if I am awake, but I'm actually in a state between being awake and being asleep.

It might not sound very serious but its actually really dangerous. It can be something as simple as scrolling on social media but more often than not, it occurs when I'm cooking, driving, doing dishes, sometimes it even happen when I'm teaching. While performing tasks in this state I have burned myself, I've collapsed and hit my head, I've tripped down the stairs, etc.

I've come to terms with the fact that i can't keep up with everyone anymore. I need to take care of myself and my health because I can't help anyone when I'm sleeping or sick due to pushing myself too hard.

This means I've been very absent from a lot of people's lives lately. It means I've let down a lot of people and it means a lot of people are either hurt, confused, or annoyed at my change in behavior. For that, I am sorry but I will no longer allow others to make me feel guilty for doing what I KNOW is best for me and my body.

I've censored myself for years for fear of disappointing others or making them feel uncomfortable but all I've done is disappoint myself and make myself uncomfortable. I've lost many friendships already and I'm sure I'll lose more but it's time I surround myself with friends who genuinely care for me and not just "friends" who come around when I'm beneficial to them.

So here's to embracing who I am. The good, bad, and ugly. For every happy picture of me that I post on here, there's a thousand moments of fatigue and disappointment. Scroll for a couple pictures that make me cringe but also show who I am a lot of the time.

Happy Monday and thanks for reading this far ❤️

For those of you who know me well, you know balance is NOT my strong point. I've always been extremely clumsy, add in Narcolepsy, and I'm an accident waiting to happen 😂

My balance has improved soooooo much since I started doing yoga. Being able to stay in this pose long enough for to get several pictures in this pose is a definite win for me!!
