Our Seasonal Dance Series began in the best possible way with guest artist Sherrod Reid! Participants received a fun and enriching introduction to Afro-Caribbean dance, embracing and celebrating new movements and making new memories.

We are so excited for the first master class of our Seasonal Dance Series THIS SATURDAY with special guest artist, Sherrod Reid!

This learning experience is an introduction to Afro-Caribbean movement, and is offered to dancers from all local studios, ages 10 and up.

About Mr. Reid:

Sherrod Reid is a Trinidadian dancer, educator, choreographer, and researcher with a diverse background in contemporary, modern, ballet, Caribbean folk, and Afro- and Indo-Caribbean dance practices. He began his professional dance training at the University of Trinidad and Tobago, earning a BFA in Performing Arts with a specialization in Dance in 2018. He later received a scholarship to the Joffrey Ballet School in New York City, where he expanded his training in jazz, hip-hop, dancehall, and contemporary dance.

He holds an MFA in Dance from Florida State University, where his research explored love, culture, identity, and community through his choreographic work IFE DUDU. His current research focuses on solo practice, improvisation, and Afro- and Indo-Caribbean aesthetics within contemporary and technical dance.

We wrapped up Summer at the Studio this week celebrating all things Disney Descendants. While Disney villains may be Rotten to the Core, our SDSD campers are the sweetest of all! If Only this summer could last forever. Campers made magical memories singing, dancing, crafting, and storytelling. What a way to Set it Off!

Summer may be over but fall is just around the corner and enrollment is now open! Classes don’t begin until September, but some will fill up fast.

Our advanced intensive dancers enjoyed a week of challenge, growth, and fun as they leveled up their technique with Mary Roberts !

Studying all things jazz and what it means to be audacious in the dance space, our dancers got a boost in their leaps, high kicks, and confidence this week!

Summer at the Studio is winding down, finishing up with our final Performing Arts Camp of the season next week: Disney Descendants 🍎🪄 Time truly flies when you’re having fun!
