• Creates public/private partnerships to protect trophy bass, promote fishing, and support conservation programs.
• Documents and awards trophy catches so that the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission can continue to learn more about producing and sustaining the best trophy bass fishery in the world, and share information with the public about these exciting fisheries.

September brought sunshine, great company, and cleaner waterways thanks to successful community lake cleanups.
* The Greater Orlando Lakes Cleanup showed up strong with 199 volunteers across four parks, collecting 560 pounds of trash.
* The Harris Chain of Lakes Cleanup rallied 87 volunteers at four locations and hauled out an impressive 1,855 pounds of trash from our waterways.

A huge round of high-fives and heartfelt thanks to all our amazing volunteers, local partners, and our TrophyCatch conservation partner AFTCO for helping keep Florida's waterways shining. Together we're cleaning up and leveling up!

Why do YOU submit your TrophyCatch? 🎣

Is it the bragging rights, the rewards, or helping conserve Florida’s trophy bass?

When we asked TrophyCatch anglers, conservation came out on top! In our surveys, 52% of responses said supporting Florida’s bass conservation efforts is their top reason for registering for the program. When it comes to submitting catches, providing valuable data for fisheries research and management was the biggest motivator to participating in TrophyCatch.

Every trophy bass you document helps us learn more about Florida’s incredible fisheries.

⚠️ Boater Safety Reminder: Post-Hurricane Isaias

Public safety is our top priority following Hurricane Isaias. If you plan to head out on the water, be aware that the storm may have left displaced vessels, submerged debris, and other hidden hazards in our waterways. Waterway markers may also be missing or damaged.

Please proceed with caution:
• Stay alert and watch for hazards.
• Reduce your speed and navigate carefully.
• Give first responders plenty of room to work.

Help keep our waterways safe:
• Report missing or damaged waterway markers.
• Report storm-damaged boats that may be lost or abandoned to your local law enforcement agency or the FWC Division of Law Enforcement at 888-404-3922.
• In an emergency, call 911 or use VHF Marine Radio Channel 16 to report distress or other emergencies. Do not rely on social media to report life-threatening situations, as limited resources may delay monitoring and responses across multiple platforms during severe weather events.

Stay alert, boat safely, and look out for one another.

Wildlife and Storms 🌀
Wondering what do to if you encounter wildlife after a big storm? Be aware, keep your distance, and give all wild animals space.

🐊Alligators and snakes might be observed more frequently after a major storm event, especially in areas with flooding. Keep them at a distance and give them space. If you have a concern about an alligator, please call our Nuisance Alligator Hotline at 866-FWC-GATOR (866-392-4286).

🌊The rough weather from strong storms can cause manatees to become stranded and sea turtle post-hatchlings to be washed back from the sea and onto the shore. If you encounter a stranded, injured or dead manatee, or a sea turtle hatchling tangled in seaweed on the shore or in a place it doesn't belong, like a pool or yard, the best thing to do is call our Wildlife Alert Hotline at 888-404-3922 so that trained responders can assist.

🐻 While cleaning up after the storm, remember that bears may be attracted to unsecured food items. If spoiled food is included in post-hurricane debris, secure it separately from non-food debris. Report conflicts with bears to FWC’s regional offices during business hours or after hours to our Wildlife Alert Hotline at 888-404-FWCC.
