Cal Coast Track Club

Cal Coast runners had great races at the annual USATF Club XC championships, highlighted by our 50’s women squad of Carla McAlister, Liz Guerrini, & Christy Peterson taking the team win in that category! Carla, Liz, as well as Maggie Shearer all finished second in their respective age groups. Dr. Sara finished 14th OA in the very competitive Open division race. The men’s squad had good results as well, but they mostly excelled at the post-race drinking. 🍻

We had our SoCal USATF Regional XC Championships this morning. A new coarse for regionals where the race director took full advantage of the varying terrain to come up with something tough!

Our own Roosevelt and Maggie took the big wins in the masters race. Dr. Sara had a ding-dong battle in the open race to take a strong 2nd. And Jacques doubled back after the masters race to run in the longer open division race, because, well, he’s Jacques.

On to Club Nationals!

Cal Coast is back to Tuesday Night on the track! We’ll be at Corona Del Mar High School every Tuesday through spring. Warm up begins at 5:30pm.

Group runs are more fun.

Big, big Saturday group run to say goodbye for now to one of our team’s staples, We’ll see her again at XC Club nationals in December after she’s put in several months of hard training in the mountains of Idaho.

Friday night at the track meet, Sara Van D**e set a new personal best in the 800m and broke the 2:07 barrier in her final race of her track season. We’ve watched her train REALLY hard for this, so we’re so proud to see her make this leap to a new level!

Cal Coast brought a wrecking crew to a local July 4th 5k in Irvine. The men filled out the top 15 finishing positions, taking age group wins and an overall podium, with Lee Reidel taking the overall women’s division win.

Post race festivities involved hotdogs and fireworks.

Trevor Cox will win for beer! 1st place at this morning’s Wrigley River 10k in Long Beach. 🥇
