Steak Beats Broccoli For Protein
Broccoli has protein, technically. But if muscle is the goal, give me the steak all day long.
🥩 From a protein standpoint, steak wins. The protein you get from steak is more bioavailable than what you get from broccoli
🥦 Broccoli protein is just harder for your body to absorb
🌱 On top of that, a lot of fruits and vegetables today don't carry nearly the vitamins and minerals they used to
📉 A 2004 study comparing USDA data on 43 garden crops from 1950 to 1999 found real drops in protein, calcium, iron and vitamin C. The researchers pinned most of it on crops being bred for size and yield
🚜 Between commercial farming and everything that gets sprayed on crops, I'm a little paranoid about fruit and vegetables right now
💊 So I get most of my micronutrients from spirulina and chlorella to cover the plant side. Then give me that steak
🥗 I'm not a carnivore guy and I'm not anti vegetables. Broccoli sprouts are loaded with sulforaphane, and I still eat broccoli for the fiber
📏 Fun fact: to match the protein in a 6 oz cooked steak, you'd need roughly 18 cups of chopped broccoli
Know your goals and eat for the right reasons. I'm not eating broccoli to put on muscle.
DM us "PROTOCOL" and I'll break down how I cover my protein and my micronutrients.
