For the past eight years, A3’s Director of Sports Science, Casey Mulholland, and his pitching lab, Kinetic Pro Performance (KP), have played an integral role in managing Nick Martinez’s throwing workloads and continued development.

We couldn’t be prouder of Casey and the entire KP team for the work they’ve invested in Nick throughout his remarkable journey.

Tonight, one of the most resilient players in Major League Baseball takes the mound as the Game 1 starter of the World Series!

Let’s go, Nick! Let’s go, Rays!

Congratulations to Ethan Saviñon on making the Puerto Rico 18U National Team! 🇵🇷 They begin international play in the DR at the end of October! Ethan is a 2-way player at A3. But on the mound, his fastball has been clocked as high as 95mph. Ethan is generating MLB draft interest and major D1 interest after A3’s MLB Scout Day. Ethan Saviñon

Sometimes we let our players have a little fun with the “Pimp It” drill! It’s a great drill heading into the weekend. (Gudi celebrating his Miss State commitment with the no look throw to 1B!) The idea is to make the catch flashy, get creative, and show off a little. There’s actually some science behind it: adding movement variability and creativity can help athletes improve body awareness, timing, adaptability, and learn how much time and space they really have. The goal isn’t to play like this in games! This isn’t Banana Ball….😆 …. The goal is to make the normal play feel slower, easier, and more automatic. It simplifies routine ground balls and forces the brain to think externally of completing the task of throwing the runner out and completing the play vs focusing internally at their body movements and mechanics.

Our older high school players are entering the “end game” of their careers as they work toward competing at the highest levels of the sport. They had some fun today, but they’ll be back at it tomorrow….just like they are every Saturday in the fall. Six days a week of grinding, discipline, and sacrifice. Have a great weekend!

Congratulations to 3-year Trojan, senior SS Moises Gudino on his commitment to play in the SEC at Mississippi State University!

Gudi is a relentless worker that is a mainstay at the facility. He is a high level defensive SS, that can really pick it, runs well and has a ton of feel for hitting from the left side of the plate. He’s been playing in the Premier division of the ABA since his sophomore year where he was a starter and hit close to .400.

Moises is also generating MLB draft interest and the sky is the limit for him.

We are incredibly proud of Moises and the work he has put in on and off the field to get to this point.
