Pesca Panama has 1 open boat available with a great small group December 8-13 with a very rare 15% reduction in price. Wonderful time to be in the cool offshore islands of Panama with nobody else fishing over 100 miles of shore and the famous prime time Hannibal Reef for black marlin. We can host 1-4 in a private boat with excellent capt/mate/gear, or I can hook 2 or 3 singles up, all good dudes. I expect a great rooster and cubera bite and 30 species or so. Been jumping Panama tarpon last days, 18 in the air yesterday on 8 # spin and 8 # fly. Even more snook, lost count. These are juvenile fish in a lost river, ton of casting ton of fish, 2-15lbs, Dios they can dance. Won't admit how many didn't make it to the boat for release....

Today headed for private ponds and roadside ditches for pacu, small wolfish, snook, more tarpon. It's not always about mega fish here in Panama, but action and adventure!

I'm one of the small percentage of covid vax peeps that got hit with negative side effects- heart has been highly arrhythmic for over two years and crazy slow- heartbeat as low as 29, normally high 30s. Just had a longish, creepy catheter ablation done by the fabulous wizard docs at Clearwater Cardio here in FL two days ago. They strap you down, mostly keep you awake so they can chemically produce as many irregular beats as possible, put four holes in right groin, one in left, one in each arm, run a wire up an artery to the top of your heart, poke down through chambers with four more holes, find the cells that are causing the disfunction, kill them- three burned regions in the heart for me. Sitting here this morning, steady on at low 50 beats, smiling, thankful. I never stopped doing the things I love, but this definitely slowed me a bit. Time to rock on again now.

Pesca Panama's lodge records for yellowfin tuna are 157lbs on fly, and 332lbs on conventional. This is my best (and I had help from Tom and Bob so it wouldn't count as a record anyway)- 2.5 hours, towed our 28' Ocean master just over 5 miles, 322lbs. And for reference, I'm 6'4"! Something I often hear about this region is that pound for pound the YFT are stronger and more vigorous than other areas worldwide. Your thoughts?
