Now that the dust has settled, and I had time to reflect my 2nd place 🥈 at The North Americans Nationals in my class, Im very grateful to still be able to do bodybuilding at this level .
I will be 50 years old next year. At my 30’s I never thought I would be doing this still.
I’m sure soon will be the time to hang the posing trunks , but as of now I still enjoy greatly the whole process.
It gives me purpose and it has helped me improve in other areas of my life.
It has also provided me the opportunity to have the amazing community we have at Pulse Personal Training 🏋🏽♀️

3 weeks out.
The last couple of weeks I have been running the off day diet only.
My body weight went down 3.6 lbs since last check-in post 3 weeks ago.
Energy levels finally started to decline in the last few days.
Surprisingly my strength has continued to improve.
My sleep quality and quantity has, as of now, been in a great spot. First time ever in any of my past preps 🙌
If you ever competed you know sleep takes a dive once you start getting close to super low levels of body fat.

Getting on stage was on Mok’s bucket list.
He came to me 10 weeks out of the competition that he had registered to do.
Already in great shape, a plan was designed to get him stage ready.
Didn’t take too long to start seing results from his athletic physique.

Meet Kenny -
With a very physical job working outside in the high heat of Florida weather , Kenny found it difficult to continue seeing results on his own.
He was already in great shape but he wanted to get better.

Meet Amar -
He had been active and training 3 to 4 times per week in the gym but failed to see any changes in his body composition.
Living abroad as a full time student, he didn’t know how to navigate a structured plan for the results he wanted to see.

“Are you someone that struggles losing weight?
While training a client she desperately asked “why am I not losing weight”?
“I’m doing my cardio , training 4 times a week and eating pretty healthy,“ she said .
I asked her “what do you mean by healthy?” Well sometimes I eat breakfast, but not all the time .
For lunch I order something healthy and at night I order again or grab a granola bar , she replied.
“I’m just too busy and don’t have time to follow a plan”, she said.
Obviously at this moment she is not willing to commit just yet, to a structured nutrition plan.
By starting to journal food choices being consumed daily on an app that can track your calories, it will put things into perspective.

Two months post show day in November of 2021 the desire to get back on stage was there again.
The plan was set, a structured off season in combination with a surplus of calories for a few months to allow her body to be in a healthier state and in a better position to train hard and gain more muscle.
Once prep started, managing variables like fatigue and stress was a huge factor for increased output in her performance during training. As a result a fuller look to her physique, and a 4th place at The USA Masters Nationals 2022.

5 months post show day.
9 months to go for The NPC North American Nationals 2024.
The longer I have been in this journey the more I have been able to realize the importance of managing the variables that seem so simple but are huge on making progress and staying healthier to have longevity in this sport .
Structure in the off season , proper sleep , recovery days , stress management, no crazy cheat meals (but instead just increasing calories when needed), keeping positive people around myself, is all the main focus of my strategy now to stay aligned with my goals.
The no crazy cheat meals has been huge for me to finally eliminate out of my lifestyle. I have plenty of calories set in my nutrition plan with a large variety of food that the need to have cheat meals has no place in my life now .
I can probably say that I’m working harder now then when I was younger but not in the sense of working out more or dieting harder ,instead in the sense of paying attention on other aspects of my life that needed to improve .
I will be 49 years old in a couple of months and 10 years ago I would have never thought I would be loving doing this just as much or even more than what I do now.
I’m really blessed to be given the opportunity to have a job that allows me to do what I’m truly passionate about.
Thank you to all the people that have allowed me to guide them in their journey, it has been really rewarding to me.

has competed in the past, like most first time competitors things get out of hand and bodybuilding lifestyle gets thrown out of the window.
After a few years of being out of shape he finally decided to get back on a plan. This time the goal is not to step on the stage but to feel good about himself and be healthy.
It has been 10 months and his transformation has been outstanding. We are working to get to a level where it is sustainable for his lifestyle.
