Tampa Zen Center is a community of 'spiritual friends' who meet each week to sit in silence as well as have discussions about meditation practice. in the 1950s.

We meet every Saturday morning at Aikido Chuseikan of Tampa Bay. The Aikido center is located close to the heart of Ybor City at 1302 15th Street North, Suite B, Tampa, FL 33605.

9:30 AM - Zazen Instruction; Set up Zendo in Silence
10:00 AM - 10:25 AM Sitting Meditation
10:25 AM - 10:35 AM Walking Meditation ("Kinhin")
10:35 AM - 11:00 AM Sitting Meditation
11:00 AM - 11:15 AM Heart Sutra, Service
11:15 AM - Silent work period - put cushions and instruments away
11:25 AM - 12:00 PM Discussion in the Meditation Room then
Tea, Coffee, Baked goods & Conversation

This schedule includes two 25-minute sitting meditations. Those wishing to participate in only one meditation period should arrive at 10:25 AM and may join us in the zendo during kinhin. Zazen instruction is recommended for new attendees.

Experienced and beginners are always welcome. Instruction and meditation practice are by donation. Participants' weekly donations are $5.00.

In the spirit of our first teacher, Shunryu Suzuki, our zendo is open to everyone. Thus, in cases of financial hardship, we do not require the full donation.* But, because we have expenses, including rent, all participants are expected to make a weekly donation.

"Dana," the act of donating to support the sangha (community of practitioners), is part of our practice. We are a 501(c)(3) non-profit so all recorded donations are tax deductible. Donations may be made in cash or by personal check.

* Should you wish to participate but are experiencing financial hardship, please call the Director to discuss your situation or plan to arrive at least 30 minutes in advance to speak with her.
