Cambridge Christian wins 2022 1A State Championships with only distance squad (4x800, 1600, 3200, and 800)!!!

It is rare to see a distance squad win a state track team title but is rare to find a distance squad as talented and loaded with talent as the Cambridge Christian girls, who scored 70 points from 4 distance events in the 4x800 meter relay (10 pts), 1600 meter run (27 points), 800-meter run (15 points), and 3200-meter run (18 points).

After kicking off their day repeating as the 4x800 meter relay champions in 9:32, their two national caliber seniors in 1600 and 800-meter champion Mary Ellen Eudaly and 3200-meter champion Caroline Lehman led the way individually, scoring 20 points and 18 points, respectively individually, while Madeleine Gear (1600/3200) and Eliana Black (1600/800) also chipped with a pair of All-State podium finishes. Cambridge Christian Rocks 18:06 Team Average At RunningLane 08/12/2022

Cambridge Christian ranked top 15 in the country at Running Lane Cross Country Team Nationals.

The Cambridge Christian girls finally got the opportunity to match up with the nation's best high school cross country programs at the Garmin RunningLane National Championships including many that were ranked ahead of them in various top 25 lists throughout the season. They ended up knocking off quite a few of those teams with a very solid 15th place finish in the 30 team championship gold field and in the process posted the fastest top 5 team average by any school in Florida high school history with their 18:06 average.

Cambridge Christian was led up front as always by their star duo of Mary Ellen Eudaly and Caroline Lehman. The two runners just missed qualifying for Eastbay Nationals last week with Lehman finishing 11th and Eudaly finishing 12th at the South Regional in Charlotte, North Carolina while running season best times.

The pair lowered their times again at RunningLane with Eudaly earning All-American honors with a 17th place showing and her first sub 17 minute performance at a PR of 16:55, while Lehman was only 10 seconds off her 16:53 5K PR from the track in an adidas Indoor Nationals 5K title with a 24th place finish of 17:03. Eudaly's time is the 7th fastest 5K cross country time in state history, while Lehman now ranks 10th fastest all-time.

In 2021, Cambridge Christian's Cross Country was ranked #1 in Florida history.

The Cambridge Christian School Girls Cross Country Team has been ranked number one in Florida by MileSplit Florida (www.flrunners.com), the recognized statewide ranking organization. Subsequently, although previously unrecognized in national rankings, the team finished second in a major national race. This moved them into the Nike National Ranking at 25th in the country.

Regarding the top runners on the team, Brandon Miles, Milesplit Florida Editor, wrote that the team deserves recognition, “…with the likes of Mary Ellen Eudaly, Caroline Lehman, Eliana Black, and Madeleine Gear as arguably the best top four that our state has ever seen on one cross country team and currently has to rank among the best in the country this season.”

The team did not disappoint when coach Raymond Friedman made the decision to take the team to the Great America Cross Country Festival in Cary, North Carolina, on Saturday, October 2nd. Even with two runners under the weather, they finished second in the 5,000-meter Race of Champions against Weddington, one of the top teams in the country.

That performance catapulted Cambridge Christian School into the national rankings for the first time at the rank of 25. The girls will certainly get more attention now, and even greater glory is a possibility, with the RunningLane National Championships set for December 4 in Alabama. Ray Friedman
