What happens when a coach is afraid to challenge a player because that player might leave?
Former North Carolina Tarheel, NFL linebacker, and longtime high school football coach Keith Newman joins Preston to expose one of the biggest problems facing high school football today: coaches who are afraid to hold players accountable because they fear losing them to another school.
Newman shares his perspective on high school football coaching, player development, accountability, leadership, transfers, and team culture. When winning players becomes more important than developing players, what happens to the coach's ability to actually coach?
This conversation goes deeper than football. It's about what young athletes need from coaches, why accountability matters, and whether today's high school football environment is making coaches too cautious to demand excellence.
