Your first 3 steps make or break your sprint. Most athletes lose speed right here with bad body position.

- Keep hips forward
- Push down and back
- Drive toe up, knee up
- Keep steps short, fast, and powerful

In-season strength training - Keep the goal the goal (your sport).

Training is meant to support your performance, not take away from it.

Stay locked in on your sport as the priority. Make every lift, sprint, and recovery session adds value to your game.

Running at top speed is important however, most team sports involve short bursts of speed. Your ability to accelerate and apply force quickly makes all the difference.

When athletes are training to develop power, there are a couple of common mistakes I often see:

1. Too many reps – High reps can lead to fatigue, which limits true power output.

2. Not enough rest – Short rest periods don’t allow the body to recover, reducing the effectiveness of each set.

When training for power, the focus should be on low reps, high intensity, and longer rest between sets.

This allows the nervous system to reset and produce maximum force on each effort.

The journey through youth development comes with challenges both on and off the field. At our speed camps, we go beyond just building faster, stronger, and more explosive athletes. We talk about character, faith, and what it looks like to be a good teammate.

We remind our athletes that life and sports will bring tough decisions, and it's in those moments that doing what's right matters most.

We encourage our athletes to seek wisdom, pursue understanding, and lead with fortitude. How you grow as a person is more important than how you perform as an athlete.

Always choose weights you can control with perfect form. Just because your teammates are lifting heavier doesn’t mean you need to match them.

Everyone is on their own path when it comes to strength and development. It’s okay to use the same weight for multiple sets.

Progress doesn’t always mean going heavier. Never sacrifice form for more weight.

Summer Separation! 💥

Separate yourself from the competition this summer by enhancing your sprint speed. A few key points. 👇

Speed training with purpose. 🏃‍♂️💨

- Sprint at >80% effort to improve speed.
- Use timing gates or race a teammate to measure progress.
- Prioritize max recovery between sprints to maintain intensity.
- Add plyometrics for explosive power and elasticity.
- Build strength to increase force production and efficiency.

Consistency and intention lead to results.

06/24/2025

Be consistent with standards. What you tolerate becomes the standard. Show up the same way every day. Focused, intentional, and reliable.

Athletes don't need perfection, but they do need predictability. Your consistency creates trust and sets the tone for the culture.
