Happy Tuesday! Check out our Softball Swing Tips!
Following these fundamental batting tips can get you further than you think on the diamond! 🥎
1) Find a good stance and a good grip
No two batting stances or grips will be the exact same, so don't feel like there is a set way to do it. What you can try and do though is find a stance that feels both comfortable to you and puts you in an athletic, loaded position to be explosive when you swing.
Try to find a place in the box where you can successfully swing at anything in the strike zone, no matter what kind of pitch it is.
With your grip, just be sure you've got two hands on it in a firm position that allows you to swing hard without letting the bat go flying.
2) Keep your eye on the ball
When the ball is delivered out of the pitcher's hand, keep your eye on it all the way till it gets to your bat. The second you take your eye off the ball, your hand-eye coordination goes bonkers and you'll miss hit it. Keep the head down and don't lift up too early to see where it's going. Just like in golf, you don't need to watch your ball to help it fly better.
3) Swing through the ball
When it's time to swing the bat, you'll want your momentum going right through the ball. One of the worst and most common mistakes made by hitters is to try and swing up. That will not make the ball go any further or higher. It will only result in weak contact.
