Forever grateful to always decide to pick a “good day” to let your loved ones cross the rainbow bridge. Both amazing horses, both gone too soon. No matter how long we have had a horse, we will ALWAYS make the hard decision when THEY are ready and not when WE are. One of the hardest decisions to make is “when is the right time”. For us, it’s simple, you listen, you watch, and and do it for them. For beauty, being our daughter’s horse, it’s a very hard decision, but a necessary one. For Beauty and Rickie’s own quality of life, from not being able to get off the ground because of a bum leg and Beauty being lame every time we turn around and constantly in constant pain due to prior living situations…we have decided to let them both cross the rainbow bridge. They will now be able to run green pastures, roll when and where they feel, and be with those we all dearly miss. (Both four legged and two) until we meet again, beauty and Rickie will be dearly missed and non-replaceable.

Ernie previously worked as a driving mule and has been enjoying his transition into life under saddle. He has completed his refresher training with us at Whispering Hearts Equine and is now ready to find a family of his own.

Ernie is exactly what many trail riders are looking for.

🌿 Doesn’t mind leading, riding in the middle, or bringing up the rear.

🌊 Crosses water.

🪵 Steps over logs.

➡️ Goes wherever you point him.

🌳 Calm and willing on the trail.

The only obstacle he’s still building confidence with is mud. His first instinct is usually to look for a way around it, but with a patient rider encouraging him for a couple of minutes, he’ll work through it and cross without issue.

⭐ Things We’re Continuing to Improve ⭐

We believe in being completely transparent so Ernie finds the perfect home.

• ✂️ He is due for a hoof trim.

• 🌲 When leading a trail ride, he can occasionally lack confidence and appreciates reassurance from his rider.

• 🪜 When mounting for the very first time before heading out, he’ll sometimes step away from the mounting block, log, or whatever you’re using. A simple correction reminds him to stand, and after that, he mounts like an absolute saint for the rest of the ride. Once you’ve ridden for even a few minutes, he stands quietly to remount and doesn’t try to step away again.

❤️ Overall, Ernie is an incredibly honest, kind-hearted horse with a wonderful foundation. He’s the type that wants to please, enjoys being with his people, and will make someone an outstanding trail companion, camping partner, lesson horse, or dependable family riding horse.

Ernie was previously used for pulling, and now he’s beginning his next chapter under saddle! He is currently at Whispering Hearts Equine in Tampico, Illinois, for a 30-day under-saddle refresher to help him become the dependable riding partner we know he can be.

New addition to our obstacle course. Lots more things we are adding as well. Planning on hosting a play day in the next month or so. Will post info when we pick a date. Will have room for overnight as well as a fire in the evening.
