Their family story began in 1969 when Bob and Maria Karterouliotis immigrated from Sparta, Greece, and opened their first bakery in Chicago. In 1985, the family opened Hellas Restaurant & Bakery right here on the historic Sponge Docks. Today, it is still owned and operated by their children and grandchildren!

When I first moved to Tarpon Springs, Hellas was the very first restaurant my husband brought me to. Now, every time my family comes to visit, we come here for a family night. It has become one of our traditions. 💙

The food is authentic, the atmosphere makes you feel like you’ve been transported to Greece, and the owners are truly amazing people. Make sure you stop at their bakery next door for incredible Greek pastries, desserts and family recipes passed down through generations.

If you want to experience the heart, history and Greek culture of Tarpon Springs, you have to visit Hellas. I highly recommend it!
