It's the time of the year for Yushinkan's traditional “Suika wari” (watermelon splitting). We commemorated Oishi Sensei’s birthday near his memorial bench in Tuckahoe. Evan Nava and Mark Bieri Sensei performed kata. There were attempts to hit the watermelon. Some had success.

We had some special guests visit up for practice today. Thank you to Bieri Sensei for leading the class today and reviewing good techniques! Narumi Sensei also joined us today and gave us good perspectives. Also with us today was Yushinkan alumnus Joe Doubleday.
