It’s official! 💥 As of yesterday, I am a PWR!Moves Certified Instructor — and I cannot wait to bring this work to our community!
So… what is PWR!?
PWR! (pronounced POWER) is a Parkinson’s-specific movement program built around the idea that exercise is medicine and that intentional movement can help our brains learn, adapt and create stronger movement patterns.
That’s neuroplasticity 🧠 — our brain’s incredible ability to change through movement, challenge, attention and repetition.
And PWR! isn’t quiet! 📣
We work on using our VOICE with intention too — getting LOUD, projecting, breathing, expressing and connecting our voice with our movement. Parkinson’s can affect how strongly someone speaks and expresses themselves, so vocal effort can become another part of practicing BIG, confident action.
PWR! focuses on functional movement — reaching BIG, shifting our weight, twisting, stepping, transitioning, getting up and down, reacting, thinking AND moving.
While it was created specifically for people living with Parkinson’s, these are skills every BODY needs.
Because I don’t just want us exercising for an hour.
I want us practicing movement that we take off our mats and out into our worlds.
My intention is an energized, FUN and functional class — music, laughter, brain challenges, BIG movement and BIG voices! 💥
We’ll have a strong chair focus, making this work accessible to many bodies, with plenty of adaptations out of the chair too — standing, supported standing, hands and knees and even all the way down to the ground.
Meet your body where it is.
Challenge your brain.
Move BIG.
Speak LOUD.
Have FUN.
And keep doing the things you love. ❤️
PWR! weekly classes are coming this OCTOBER to The Collective in East Tawas!
Parkinson’s or not — there is POWER in movement. 💥
💜💜 This training was possible by an angel of a friend and the Tawas Wellness Warriors! Thank you! GET READY ✨
