I'VE BEEN LOOKING FOR IMAGES AND VIDEO OF THE RW7 TO NO AVAIL...
THERE IS VERY LITTLE MENTION OF IT ANYWHERE THAT I LOOKED. I WISH THERE WAS MORE DOCUMENTATION REGARDING THE INDIVIDUAL MODELS. I AM THINKING THE RW7 WOULD BE A NICE DIVERSION BUT THERE ARE NO ARTICLES TO READ OR VIDS TO WATCH.... ITS A SHAME.
Is this a RagWing Special ?
RW-11 for sale with or without Sabaru EA-81 engine (330tt) airframe is uncovered and has 0 time. 10k for aircraft and engine but will sell separately.
Ragwing special ll, Argentina!
Hello everyone i’m new to this group .i have purchased the plans for the RW 19-20.
I also bought the video of Mr Mann building the 19.
I’m wanting to build the 20 which is the side by side.
What other high wing side by side plans are offered by Roger Mann?
If I end up building my RW20 what do you guys think about a 80 hp VW motor
Or a Corvair motor?
I also want to use Northern White pine Or Douglas fir
What do you guys think ?
Silka spruce hard to find and Expensive
Any help will be greatly appreciated
Also it doesn’t look like Mr.Mann is using T88 epoxy on hi build do anyone know what he is using or can you recommend other very good glued that aren’t 35.00 a small bottle?
I was wondering if Bob Sanders had flown his sprite green RW20 Stork yet. Since he was not responding to FB messages I noticed a response from his daughter on his FB page so I contacted her. and she answered. It is sad news. Bob had a stroke in 2013 that he never recovered from and passed in 2018. She said he got great enjoyment from building the airplane, but did not get to fly it. But her brother in law is a now a pilot and has the airplane now and hopes to fly it.
Got a photo of the wing tip structure ( without fabric)as shown in the plans in figure 13? just built one and need a comparison, thanks
Casey
Hello, any thought to get back to the drawing board and creating another few flying marvels?
Is Murry Green (RW20) on here? I am curious about his Corvair with the air trikes gearbox.
Anyone familiar with the portable hanger and the prop carver plans available on the roger mann site? I would consider buying if i knew what they were like....
I see the engine HP range on the website says 70-80hp, whats the heaviest the engine can be before you really cant get it to fall in line for CG? Any engine recommendations?
I’ve been working in getting the cowl on the parasol. Today I added reinforcing glass where the fasteners will go and added some stiffener ribs. Also made eight 3/4” wide mount brackets out of a piece of 1/8” x 1” x 1” structural aluminum angle I found in my scrap aluminum bin I drilled one side for screws to attach them to the firewall and drilled and tapped the other side for mounting the cowl to the brackets. The idea is to use #10 ss screws with a little thread lock that thread into the aluminum brackets to hold the cowl on. During the testing phase we’ll see how this works out. If they vibrate loose I’ll gave to slip some AN locknut hardware over the brackets. I’m going to try this first though. I did this on a piece of aero for my race car (usually revving above 5000 rpm) and it didn’t rattle loose at 135mph down the straightaway so I’m feeling confident.

Note from Wayne Wilson in NewZealand about the RagWing Stork he built, sent a pdf article and flying pic by new owner and a comparison of other scale Storks. Very nice. Thanks.

In my younger days I was willing to risk alot, that is a 400 foot rough field with no where to go if engine quits which it did, not today!, but glad I got it on video to show how dumb and lucky I was!

Wayne Wilson from Christ Church New Zealand wrote to say his RagWing RW1 Ltl' Air Camper (UltraPiet) is now in a museum! Being towed out here for airshow display. Best part is he still gets to fly it. Nice my friend!

Got a fresh photo today from Ivan Campbell in New Zealand as he is preparing for their approval and flight testing of the Radial on the RagWing Stork. They have paperwork and details to work through so as soon as approval is granted testing will begin. Exciting news to see this aircraft getting back in the air since the last time Wayne and I flew it many years ago. I have spoken with Ivan and will get them what they need as RagWings are still supported and it is a joy to help builders as I am a lifetime member of EAA Expermental Aircraft Association/Volunteer Tech Advisor of any aircraft not just RagWings.

Solo Ragabond Trigear 10/15/2019

Built from Ragabond plans ($25 instant download only just like all of RagWing designs are now- www.rogermann.org) but as a solo aircraft and converted to a trigear. Plans builders sometimes have to modify designs to get what they are after. Main gear was just reversed, not sure design of nose gear. With Rotax 503 certainly would not be a ultralight but Experimental Instead.

Test flying the RagWing Special back in the day. Old grainy VHS footage before cellphones....yes there was a time. I heard something so funny, a 20 something young man telling his kid brother how ruff he had it back in the day before they had internet on his phone when he was a kid.

Just this morning got a photo from Tim Wolcott showing his Ltl Air Camper's upgrades. Nice cowling around the 1/2 VW, cover for the rear fuselage and a windscreen, very nice Tim.
The Ultra Piet (pronounced Pete, short for Pietenpol) the ltl air camper is still one of my favorites. At an airshow many moons ago a writer wrote that it looked as if I had flown into a time warp and landing on the field (witmann) having taken off 60 years earlier. (it was the 90's) Very Nostaligic. I had goggles, skull cap and a long scarf that trailed in the slipstream.

I was watching the Carbon Cub videos specializing on takeoffs. The Carbon Cub is the creme de la creme of STOL aircraft, the current standard by which everything else is measured. I encourage everyone contemplating building a STOL aircraft to watch the video. . . pay special attention to takeoff distances. Now just for fun, watch Rogers 1997 Youtube video of the RW 19 prototype taking off. Remember that the Carbon Cub has great brakes and Rogers prototype had NONE. The video is proof that the RW 19 built to Rogers specs has better STOL capabilities than a Carbon Cub. Before you start telling me I'm full of it, watch the videos for yourself! They don't lie! Here's the deal, the Carbon Cub kits will set you back over $112,000 for the most basic model. (shipping NOT INCLUDED). Having built two aircraft so far on the cheap, I know for a fact that I can build an RW 19/20 for under $12,000 basic VFR, no frills. . . and that is a conservative figure. I really think I could build it for under $10,000 (my goal) with a zero time rebuilt engine. We'll see. That 2;02 minute 1997 video is amazing! The RW 19 properly built (LIGHT) is a truly amazing aircraft!

Recently found out about another STOL Wood Stork getting constructed. Still amazes me RagWings are still being built and I am still helping builders nearly 20 years after ending the business. Anyway Kevin and his son (that does my heart good to see!) who just turned 11 are coming along and have some interesting ideas such as “jeep” style doors, engine choices, etc. in order to keep the weight down. I am looking forward to watching a young man grow helping his dad build an aircraft. Nice wood and work as well, good job guys.

Just got a builders update photo last night from Jeff Conner with a super looking RagWIng Special Pitts Replica, he says it is ready to go. Still amazes me how much these look like real Pitts Specials. They are actually about 110% scale in order to get the speeds lower. Anyway, Jeff be careful, take your time and let is know if we can help in any way. Look forward to more from you in the near future. Safety first!

It is very tight in front cockpit, I could squeeze in at 6' and 175, so my intension was a trainer for Specials where I would set in front and guy wanting some special stick time before testing his own could do that so that is why I kept it as small and close to single place as possible. Being longer also makes it easier to land and gives you room for some storage in place of a person and so makes a better larger single place experimental when ultralight is not a concern. There are much larger true two seaters like the Fisher's but if you are a Pitts fan a front cockpit cover would do it.

Replica of the Pitts Special but in all wood and very light and lower hp engines 30-80. Official, original RagWing plans are still available for $25 at www.rogermann.org and are the best set that RagWing has produced because they were converted to CAD many years ago. The prototype first flew in 95' and many customer completed craft have flown. The "SPECIAL" is by far the most popular plane produced by RagWing.

Ragwing Parasols, (not including the AirCamper replica), built not to replicate but for pure simplicity and ease of building. Original prototype was called the Ragamuffin and was featured in Experimenter mag. Folks seem to customize these to their own likes and needs which I think is cool.

Tim Wolcott from WI. Just sent in a completion photo and will be starting the test hopping and flying soon. He is running a ½ VW and decided to leave the fabric off the rear fuselage and I can see why. Tim is a cabinet maker and his work needs to be seen. Some may say it looks unfinished but this does not affect the flying much except for slips. Wish I was close enough to visit but will have to do with the updates for now. Nice work and good luck with the testing. Tim has access to an original Ford powered Pietenpol AirCamper and plans to get some stick time, this is a good idea to get use to low powered aircraft and should compare nicely with his low powered ½ vw. Would love to see a photo of those craft together. Be safe and let us know how it goes. Update- Successful test flight. Congratulations. Nice Ltl’ AirCamper replica and very nostalgic. https://youtu.be/r62KcLynjq4

Checking out a nice Rans S-6 at Greenville Downtown. Folks ask if I am still active, (besides builder support). Yes, whenever the opportunity arises. I am a EAA lifetime member and one of their Tech advisors so I do inspect many aircraft not just RagWings and I still even get to test fly occasionally so if you need some help just give me a call, the farthest I have traveled is New Zealand so you just never know. Also, if you are building the EAA is the best support you can get for experimental or any other aircraft so if you are not a member you should consider joining. https://www.facebook.com/EAA/
