Red is a 12-year-old Quarter Horse I’ve had for over five years. He started out as my mom’s cutting horse, but over time, he became my partner. We didn’t trust each other at first, but through patience, hard work, and countless rides together, we built an incredible bond. ❤️🐴

We’ve done high school rodeo, barrels, showing, obstacle challenges, trail riding, and rodeo queen events. When my mom moved to Utah during my junior year, Red and I stayed in California and learned how to navigate rodeo—and life—on our own. Some of our greatest accomplishments came during those years, and I wouldn’t trade those experiences for anything.

Right now, I borrow my mom’s older saddle. Unfortunately, it doesn’t fit Red properly and requires special pads for longer rides. I’ve never owned a quality saddle of my own, so winning a custom saddle would mean everything to me. More importantly, it would give Red the comfort he deserves after everything he has given me.

The Indian Valley Riding and Roping Club and Thompson Peak Veterinary Clinic out of Janesville are hosting an equine vet clinic at the Taylorsville Rodeo Grounds, September 16th. This is a great opportunity to make a new patient client relationship with the newest large animal vets in the area. They are are planning on doing routine vet work such as equine dentals, vaccines, and sheath cleanings, but they are more than happy to accommodate your horses individual vet needs. Give them a call at (530) 253-3190 to get on the schedule!

*IVRRC will need a release of liability signed for all people wanting to participate in the vet clinic who are not members.

Reminder, we have a Club meeting tomorrow at the Rodeo Grounds with Potluck to start (Chinese) 5:30 and meeting to follow at 6:00. We will also be taking the last of ordering of club sweatshirts and sell some of the leftover apparel at cost. Please come prepared with cash preferably, or a check if you would like to purchase anything or place a sweatshirt order.

Here is the draw for our upcoming Junior Rodeo. If you see an error, or need to scratch someone, please call or text Heidi as soon as you can. Please remember that anyone in the arena (contestants, parents/adults roping with youth, helpers) need to sign the release waiver. You can print the attached waiver and have it complete to turn in at check in, or you can sign when you check in. We will have extras. Remember that all contestants and helpers in the arena must be in full western attire (hats, boots, long sleeve button-up shirts, and jeans). Check in will be Friday 3:30-4:45. Our Friday events are barrels, steer riding, and chute do***ng. All other events will be on Saturday. If you do not have any Friday events, you can check in on Saturday morning between 7:15-7:45am. If you owe money or birth certificates, please make sure that you bring those at check-in. You will not be able to participate if you do not have all entries paid and birth certificate and waiver submitted. Thank you and we look forward to seeing you all this weekend!

For the safety of everyone and to meet our insurance requirements, all membership paperwork must be completed and submitted before using the rodeo grounds, including the arena.

If your membership paperwork has not been turned in, you may not use the rodeo grounds and/or arena until it has been received and approved.
