Adaptive Basketball is designed for those that have just completed or coming into grades 9th - 12th and have special needs or accommodations. The program focuses on creating a fun and fulfilling experience over a 4-week period. Teams will be led by volunteer coaches. During each 1-hour session there will be 20-30 minute practice, a short water break, and then approximately 30 minutes of playing a basketball game. All skill levels are welcome! Come join the fun of Adaptive Basketball!
When: Tuesdays, July 7 - July 28 from 6-7pm
Where: AJ Smith Rec Center (810 N. Evans St.)
Cost: $25 non-resident, $20 city resident
Ages 18+

Children ages 3 to 6, with their caregiver, are invited to create an 8x10 unique canvas masterpiece made with items collected from nature at the AJ Smith Recreation Center! Participants will also be able to enjoy a refreshing popsicle during this summer program.
Pre-registration required. Choose either Tuesday, July 14th at 10AM or Saturday, July 18th at 9AM.

John loves his job at Parks and Rec. In his free time, he enjoys Club Goodwill, Special Olympics Area 29 swim team, Adrian College Unified SO, drumming, riding ATV’s and spending time with family at Higgins Lake! John also loves music.

Want to learn more about art but don't know where to start? Learn about color mixing, paintbrush and drawing techniques, and different mediums in each of our classes. June's class will be all about hydro painting! Two times to choose from.
Participants will create a unique canvas using spray paint and the hydro painting method. Must be at least 18 years old to attend. No prior art experience required. All materials will be provided.

UPDATED TIME! Wednesdays 6:30-8pm
Does your teen need to get off their device and out of the house? Send them to the rec! Wednesday nights are for teen drop-in basketball and open to all regardless of home school district. New teams made up each night and may depending on numbers will play full court of 3v3. Get some friends together and get to the rec!

Over the next few weeks we will be introducing members of the parks and recreation department staff! Believe it or not, half of our staff are just here for the summer. You'll meet everyone from seasonal maintenance and concessions staff to year-round employees. These are the people that make our programs, buildings, and parks happen!
We can't wait for you to meet this dedicated crew!

Just a few spots left in our beginner pickleball class!
Led by parks and rec staff, the program will cover basic fundamentals including basic rules, serving techniques, court positioning, and scoring. The program focuses on building confidence, improving hand-eye coordination, and fostering a fun, social atmosphere. No prior experience required – just bring a positive attitude and a willingness to learn! Register by July 2 at noon.
