How you do anything is how you do everything. Our bodies get stuck in certain restrictions because we've essentially trainined it do do so, i.e. sitting down, looking at our phones, not workoing out, etc.

Getting the adhesions or knots in you back, neck, and/or any other part of your body is going to take more than just a stretch...more than just an isolated exercise...it's going to take work and that work is somewhat complex, but when it hurts bad enough you'll change and you'll put in the work.

Everything starts with POSTURE. Without a summation of forces, tensegrity, and intra-abdominal pressure...this movement wouldn't be possible.

What a day!!! First tournament as a #bluebelt is in the books! Fought against some really good competitors and was able to bring home the silver 🥈in the no-gi and the gold 🥇 in the gi!!
Jiu Jitsu Competitions are a proving ground like no other...they say "you can't teach heart" but ....I beg to differ... I won my gold medal match in the gi with a score of 4 - 2 and I got those 4 points with less than 20 seconds left in a 5 min match. Blackbelt @granderson33 said it best when he said "doing something hard re-enforces who you are." Hearing my wife, my coaches and teammates yelling in that last minute momentarily took me back to all the ice baths, all the hours of training, all the thoughts and places where I wanted to stop...wanted to quit - but I said no! Those experiences are what I stood on to take my opponents back and win! Do something difficult, challenge yourself in ways that expose those areas that are attempting to keep you mediocre, that's where the real change happens, thats where we win. Today was proof. Lets do it again!!!

Dan lost his right arm while serving overseas in the military. In an attempt to save his arm doctors removed the muscles that make up his right Lat (back muscle) and the nerves from both calves (lower legs).
.
They were unsuccessful in saving his arm and had to amputate just past the elbow. Due to the fact that he works harder than anyone I know, he's now functioning better than some that have zero injuries and all extremities!

Human #movement is complex. Most natural human movement involves the interplay of a variety of muscles working together to produce the desired patterns of movement.

🔑 SLINGS:
These refer to a series of muscles in the front and back of body that work together to transfer load efficiently in order to produce and coordinate movements.
.
The slings are involved in gait, running, throwing, punching, rotational movements, and many dynamic movements that show up in sports.
✅ They are responsible for the connection and coordination between the upper and lower body through the midsection.
.
Ie. A boxer with punching power gets it from the coordinated action of upper body, core, and lower body. When a punch is sequenced correctly and timed right, the entire body is at work. This is where power comes from, the connection between upper and lower body (the sling systems).
.
🔑 You can start training for better connection and stimulating/strengthening your slings. As this connection improves, you will notice how it shows up in a variety of movements and sports.

• Start by training movements as opposed to muscles.
• Train rotational movements, this is where the slings are at work most.
