Welcome to the beginning of your Journey to Wellness, Heath & Fitness! Whether you are getting started with yoga or looking for ways to improve your existing yoga practice, you have come to the right place. I am a personal yoga instructor that conveniently travels out to your location.
PRIVATE YOGA CLASSES
I teach private yoga sessions to people of all ages, from all walks of life, and in all types of physical conditions - my clients range from people who have tried yoga studios and feel intimidated by the fast pace and Sanskrit names of yoga poses, to those who are complete beginners to yoga and want to get in better shape or manage pain, muscle stiffness or stress.
I also work with athletes to help them with stretching and flexibility, and all round strengthening of the body to lower the risk of injuries. Yoga also improves their performance and balances out the other muscles that they don't use as much in their specific sport.
If you are an intermediate yogi and need help refining poses, or flowing in a fun sequence, or mastering arm balances, that is something I teach regularly in yoga studios and offer to private yoga students too!
Not all, but most of my clients are completely new to yoga. Private beginners yoga classes are ideal for those who want to learn the foundations, poses and names of poses. No previous yoga experience, or any other exercise experience, is necessary! I am very patient with beginners and I will work with your level of strength and fitness. I believe in starting slow and building up at a pace that you are comfortable with.
It’s never too late to start learning yoga. In fact, the older you get, the more your body needs the benefits yoga to keep the body from stiffening up. I have many clients who only started yoga at a mature age and are so grateful they did.
Many of my private yoga clients have seen an improvement in pain relief, confidence, energy, motivation , flexibility and stress levels from practicing on a regular basis.
YOGA FOR PAIN, INJURIES, STRESS RELIEF
By modifying yoga poses and exercises, I work around existing pain and injuries that you may have. Through yoga I have actually helped many people feel relief from discomfort and pain. You will be surprised how much stretching tight, stiff muscles and using gentle movements can help your body. Whether you have chronic pain or something that comes and goes, yoga can often make you feel a whole lot better.
Common ailments I have dealt with in my clients include: lower back pain, neck and shoulder pain, and tech related discomfort, like stiffness and pain from sitting behind a desk for too many hours. I call these desk injuries. One of these is “mouse shoulder”: pain and stiffness in the shoulder you use to repetitively move your computer mouse. This can move down into the elbow (tennis elbow) and even into the wrist (carpal tunnel syndrome). Also “text neck” - the latest tech induced body ailment - occurs from staring down at a screen for too long with bad posture (the head hangs forward and down). In text neck the neck protrudes forward, stretching the muscles at the back of the neck and upper back/shoulders. This can result in pain in the neck and and shoulders, chronic headaches and increased curvature in the spine.
INTERMEDIATE & ADVANCED YOGA CLASSES
Initially I started out as a power and vinyasa yoga teacher. This is still the type of yoga I teach at studios and practice myself on a regular basis. If you’re looking for a good workout with challenging poses and good sequencing, I can help to deepen and refine your yoga practice, while still keeping it fun and interesting.
Through private yoga sessions you will improve:
Strength & flexibility
Yoga pose alignment
Knowledge of yoga pose names
Arm Balances and other advanced poses
PRIVATE BARRE CLASSES
I am also a certified and experienced barre instructor. For a challenging class that tones the entire body, barre is the workout for you. Barre combines yoga, Pilates and ballet into a fun and challenging workout. Barre can be upbeat with music to suit the pace. It is very core, thigh and buttock toning intensive. I also work arms with light weights. However, I do also teach beginner barre classes at a slower pace.
