Both feeder and shark are focused on the same thing . . . a large fish tail offered by the feeder and hopefully taken by the shark. It's a routine which plays out several or more times in a single dive. It teaches the sharks nothing more than that the smell of fish means a piece might soon be offered.

Offering a large snack from the crate that is wider than even a Lemon Shark's mouth was not Christian's intent. But, just a moment after this capture was recorded, the Lemon Shark shifted the piece around 90 degrees and quickly swallowed it whole as they usually do.

As I was approaching the Esso Bonaire, a small Southern Atlantic Stingray was resting comfortably in the sand off the wreck's West side. Usually, even creeping up slowly without causing a commotion can still be enough to cause a ray to become annoyed and take off. This one didn't until after I had captured several pics and then, when I was moving away, she decided enough was enough and took off . . . in that rhythmic ballet style movement that only rays, eels and some other marine animals have perfected over millions of years.

One of the most fun things to experience is watching new shark divers getting close to Lemon, Bull, Sandbar, Hammerhead and Tiger Sharks for the first time. It's always a new and life changing experience to be so close to animals that were always considered ruthless just to discover how relaxed and chill they are when not threatened or abused.

One of today's highlights was a visit by the current Queen of Jupiter, Miss DJenny the Tiger Shark. Take a look on page 80 of Joshua Schellenberg's book on the Shark of Jupiter in order to satisfy yourself that this is, in fact, Miss DJenny. A couple of new shark divers got to see her and it was some of the best excitement that we get to share.
