The two Sandbar Sharks were really cranked up on Wednesday and providing snacks was the only way to get them to calm down.

Overheard in the water column . . .
Bull Shark: "Ah! That must be the new kid! I hate when they show no fear and just hang out . . . too cool for school!"

Nothing gives perspective on Jenny's size better than having a diver right along side her massive body . . . especially when she's pregnant. While not as large as a Great White, she's still about 14' long and large in girth like a blimp.

Despite abysmal water conditions at the wrecks yesterday, Queen DJenny gave us her undivided attention for over 40 minutes pushing through numerous reef fish including Spanish Hogfish just to get to the crate where she ate voraciously to feed the pups inside her belly. With Eyes Wide Shut, she came in again and again where my friend, Chris Carpenter, waited patiently to get his first up close pics of her and even one of her teeth to take home to Georgia. It was an epic encounter!

This was one of two Sandbar Sharks on our first dive today along with about 8 or 9 large Bulls. Pretty exciting until we had DJenny the Tiger Shark for about 40 minutes non-stop on Dive #2. Not great conditions but photos coming soon!

With a subtle wink of her eye, DJenny The Tiger Shark gives me a clear indication that she's headed straight for the crate and that she'll be pushing through all the other sharks as necessary.

The reward for not packing up your underwater photog equipment too early is being able to capture sharks as the near the surface and where the ambient sunlight refracts across their bodies while also revealing their true exterior colors.

Generally, questioning a female regarding her likely pregnancy status is a big mistake. So, I kept my distance when I accused DJenny of just that . . . which I think is unmistakable. She's eating for two or three so her hunger and aggressive move on the snack crate is perfectly understandable.
